as a cypher main, i can tell you that if you run out of set ups, you can make up ones fairly quickly based off of common routes that the enemy pushes. the beauty i found with cypher is being able to give your enemies ptsd or a false sense of security to give yourself or your team an advantage. they will have to take time to check or subconsciously be cautious of your trips. regardless of the agent, this game is about adapting and reacting. meaning if your set up or your play style doesnt work against a certain team, quickly analyze your own playstyle, adapt, and change it to best counter the enemy. playing as cypher, for me, is the best example for that cause one set up isnt going to work every time. you have to change and adapt.

regarding the question of "what do you do as a cypher main when they push your setups every single round" the thing i am currently trying to focus on as a low elo cypher main (peak silver 3 getting gold and plat players in many of my games) is to find setups where either 1) i can play off the same setup from multiple starting positions (so they don't always know where i am) 2) try to get teammates to play off my setups with me (so we are playing the same setup off of multiple positions at the same time, like maybe 1 close to the set up with a shotgun and 1 long with a rifle, which you can easily adapt to shorty and sheriff in an eco rd). i will say i have probably never thought of pushing my util before to get a kill then back off to bait the enemy team into my setup so that will be fun to try out. my other main agent is killjoy so it seems like i can probably try that with her as well.

I think Cypher mains/cypher secondaries can Kobe their cages like he did at 15:50 bc of the time we've spent playing him. I'm not saying it would be as precise, but I'm sure it'll at least be within close range of the other, wherever you stand.

23:40 FNS reccomends the elbow cam as the default over the mid cam in his breeze guide, which operates on the assumption the enemy is playing jett, kayo, viper, sova, and cypher. His argument is who/if you spot someone walking elbow, you can usually tell if B is string side, whereas the mid cam you only see nest and door, which doesnt indicate wich side might be stronger. he explains it better than me starting at 5:38 in his guide (kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJaZpmeVicSAgqs)

Hi Hooj, I’m a Bronze 2 player and have recently got the courage to play ranked again while watching boomer to diamond. On one episode, you mention how jpc should scale close to the angle before peeking again, but I got a question. How do I know when I need to transition from shift walking to getting close to an angle to a/d peek? On your Haven A long example , is it ever good to hug the right wall to scale or should you scale close to the left wall until you can peek site? Love the content
@TheGamer-yh4lw Жыл бұрын
he only answers questions in his twitch chat
@ortuhs Жыл бұрын
it’s all based on distance to angle, you vs your opponent. say when you’re walking up mid on split, it’s good to shift peek and slowly break down the vents angle as you’ll always see them first due to the distance. however if you’re equal distance to the angle, or you’re closer to a wall, you want to a d peek without shift
@PracticalPotato Жыл бұрын
Hooj would say "bro you're bronze 2, work on your aim and gunfight hygiene and come back when you're plat". But one big reason you'd want to shift-peek is when you have angle advantage (you are further from the corner than a possible opponent), and you'd generally want to get close to peek fast when you won't or can't be further away from the corner than a possible opponent. For Haven A long specifically, let's make some assumptions to simplify. Let's say you're past A lobby and you're worried about someone tucked close behind the box on the right, someone on the left peeking, and someone on site. It can make sense to walk up the right side while holding the left corner (you're tucking from the guy playing on the right and you have angle advantage on the guy playing left in case they peek). Then you can switch to the left side while clearing the right (get angle advantage on the guy hiding close behind the box). Then you're in position close to the wall to peek site. You'll commonly see teams have one person get wide on the right side to hold the left corner while the rest of the team scales up the left.
@ianjohnson8419 Жыл бұрын
It depends on how far away the potential enemy is beyond the corner compared to your distance to it. When you are far, you probably have angle advantage in relation to off angle positions, so shift walk and track. As you get closer to the corner, angle advantage shifts to the enemy, so start a/d peeking.

Low trips counter Fade dog bc the dog can hover over it. Mid/head height trips counter Skye dog bc the dog touches the ground and will go under it. If you want a skye dog to hit a trip place it low. If you want a fade dog to hit a trip, place it mid height. I don’t even play cypher and I know this.
