I buy roving wool off Etsy. My favorite shops are BeesybeeFibers, MohairandMore and Hearthsidefibers

LOVE your videos they are so informative i want to try doing woolies for myself.. i have an old set of woolies would i be able to use this method to get them looking new again.. they were textured and had lux ends... So happy ve found your videos your work is beautiful... and your assistant is amazing 👏

Yes you can fix them up a bit. It probably wouldn't be brand new and be gentle with them. Check my live video section out if you haven't and watch my LUXE end video on how I comb gently.

Would you know why my client is shedding Wool quite severely , is that from not rolling them enough ?? 😅
@hollysdreadfulcolors187 Жыл бұрын
It could be, yes. It could also be the kind of wool you are using, but I'd start with the possibility that it's not felted enough. When I soak in a bowl of soapy water, I pour boiling water in first and let it soak until I can touch it with kitchen gloves. Then i will roll or scrunch depending on the texture I want.

Have I missed it in another video or have you not shown how the dreads in the washing machine turned out? I'm interested in this method as it can take me ages to make a full set because I don't always have the time.

Hey there, I actually have not shown the woolies after the washer! This is not a process I do often and I have found only works best with certain wool. I will do a video and show how they look. This method is good for long fiber wool such as Lincoln, Masham and Devon (watch out for Devon as it's VERY sheddy, but does make a beautiful kinky texture). Merino, corriedale, Falkland (to name a few) should not be used with the washer process as they shrink and/or get super puffy

@@hollysdreadfulcolors187 thanks for the reply! I would like to try Lincoln wool as I love the way the ones you showed went a little curly/wavy so if I could make them a little easier it would be a big bonus 🙂

@@hollysdreadfulcolors187 also, what dye would you recommend for the Lincoln wool?
@hollysdreadfulcolors18710 ай бұрын
@@kerrylouise7555 acid dye is ideal for dyeing wool. I use RIT and Jacquard

Thank you for the feedback! I agree, it definitely gets a little crazy when I have the kids in the video! I try to make sure I have videos of just me to get the information out well 😊
