Right off the bat, the memories came flooding back 😊 As really young kids we used to go back and forth all day on the Ferry or run through the foot tunnel. Woolwich was the pinnacle of my teenage years. We used to go dancing & roller skating at St Peters Youth Club and the Town Hall Disco as 13/14yr olds. Every Saturday me and my mates would go to Woolwich for the Market and Shops. Cuffs. Martin Fords. Richards. Ravel. Co-op. Woolworths. Littlewoods. BHS...😊 Did a lot of our courting in the late 70s in The Tram Shed (used to love going to see Splodgenessabounds and Fundation on a Saturday night: always good for a late drink too!). I used to get off my Charing X train at that same Woolwich Arsenal Stn and walk round to meet my boyfriend at the foot tunnel to go and have a Wimpy or we'd go in the American Burger Bar. Got married in the Town Hall and our first Mortgage from the Woolwich Equitable Building Society. But it was the Odeon that drew my breath: what a fantastic example of an Art Deco-style building. Saw UB40 there. Remember Saturday Morning Pictures but didn't appreciate the beautiful building (think it was 'Church of the Wine' last l knew😔) Loved it then. Don't now. Left London 10yrs ago. I think l prefer to remember it as it was in the 60s/70s, at a time when it was so good to be a teenager in London. Thanks for sharing 😊

Thank you very much for a great trip down memory lane. I lived in Plumstead on Wickham Lane just north of the Kent border and remember the 696 trolley buses. From 63 to 68 I used to get a 96 or 122 to Woolwich and then a 53 to school at Blackheath. I've not been back since the mid 70s.

Thank you very much for the extra work you've put in... more time to relish those precious memories. The McDonald's pics reminded me how, in 1974, they turned me down for a Saturday job because "I wasn't doing enough 'A' Levels at that time".

Absolutely amazing, thank you! I think it's fab that, no matter when in time, there are certain places (Beresford Square for one) in Woolwich that are instantly recognisable. Great video ❤

Thankyou for bringing up so many wonderful memories of Woolwich. The Lorry in the hole in the road was at Plumstead High St, my Sister was on the Bus that just missed it.

I really appreciate what you have done (and I have deleted my previous comment). This is a treasure trove of images which we now have the opportunity to study and to reminisce over. I now live in Manchester but am an admirer of London Transport (as it was) and there is particularly valuable coverage of their operations and vehicles. Your responsiveness to earlier comments is amazing! Thank you.
