This week, we're diving into case materials. We've got a bunch of different samples to look at, and we're really liking the smokey transparent case. However, we know everyone has their own taste, and that's why we need your opinions.

I voted on Discord, but to be perfectly candid, the simple black is the way to go in mass manufacturing, even if the other ones look better to people. My personal favorite is the speckle on black, but that would only make sense as an addon/option, as well as zinc alloy.

A heavy metallic case is just what I want. I'd prefer a simple design with flat sides, though. I hope there will be aftermarket options.

Thank you for the updates and always including us in the journey. I love how my 60he feels in the full aluminum case I have mine in but as someone who is deep into the custom keyboard hobby I love to hear you are looking into a all of these options. I wish more people understood how expensive along with the amount of time it takes to make a machined case. I know you all will make a researched decision into having a high quality material for the board with options to make it our own. I'm really looking forward to getting my hands on one of these to make another Wooting video. Something about how you share so much of the process I'm always looking forward to the next update

HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR! The editing of these breakdown videos are hilarious 😂 loving the process. Big ups to this company following for while since the twoHE glad to see the humor still here from the older updates (farmer calder😂). It's not only that people want a good keyboard. They want a good keyboard that they've created, they tweaked and giving the customer the choices helps with that process having there own unique version of a 80he/60he/TWOhe/uwu.

Id absolutely love the translucent black if you guys do some underglow rgb like a lot of companies are doing now! Would look really cool with some bottom or side rgb! Also I've bbeen very vocal about the size of the keyboard but its actually grown on me quite a bit, I was a huge advocate for 75% but I think the shifted arrow key makes this look better! Either way I am looking forward to getting one! Also some limited edition pre order drops over time would be cool! Like this transparent, white, etc.

the zinc cast is a really good idea imo. You can cut down the cnc-time per case by a lot cause you need to take off way less material compared to machining a full block of aluminium. And on top of that Zinc is a metal that feels very nice to handle in my opinion so thats big plus.

Transparent PCR looks fantastic, definitely a level up over the opaque black. On another note, not the biggest fan of the meme style sound effects/editing. Thanks for the update and looking forward to seeing more of the 80he.

Can't wait for the zinc alloy version to go pre-order. I just hope wooting give an option to include or not include switches or keycaps or both. I already bought different switches for my wooting 60HE and its just gonna be a waste if I had to buy another 80% set of switches.

Love these updates. Personally dislike the translucent color. But the color choice is so personal I really think a large selection of different colours is the best choice going forward.

I rly like the tranclucent case! Sadly polls don't go my way. Still it'd rather see it on a full size or TKL (with separate generic 6x6 pad!) anyways... so please take note: when you make your next full size or tkl+block then make it translucent hawt pink pls! =D ❤

Love the updates from you guys! Keep up the great work. As for questions, I only have one. I'm guessing these switches will not come pre-lubed, as that is the standard for most keyboards, including the Wooting 60HE.

The switches on the 60HE are pre-lubed, and over time we’ve increased the amount. However it might not be the level you’d want to see composed to lubing it yourself. The 80HE will come with an updated version and the most lube we’ve used to date.

All the keys will be included but we will by default change to include delete on the board to avoid confusion.

Previously you showed keyboard with INS, DEL, PGUP, PGDN, now it's HOME, END, PGUP, PGDN. Are you going to include all keycaps and allow hardware-level remapping?

Yes all the keys are included, so you can swap it out for your preference.

Black then concrete gray but the materials are different and can’t use the exact same coating method.

One thing that would massively reduce your environmental impact is to reduce e-waste by offering an extended warranty/lifetime repair program, a la Patagonia. I would _happily_ buy a keyboard for significantly more if I knew it was something I could always get serviced and use for years and years and years without needing to replace it. Hotswappable switches go a long ways towards this, but it would be nice to see a repair program for broken LEDs or controllers on the board as well.

We have a 4 year warranty on the 60HE and planned also for the 80HE. Except for LED, remains 2 years. When something breaks we usually send over the replacement part. When it comes to electronic repairs, we are building up towards sending LED as an option. But electronic repairs remain challenging, we otherwise send a new PCBA. We recently made sure to change our PCB coating to be more solder friendly. Hope that gives some insight

Rather pay a premium for something made by yall just to try and get a better sounding a feeling board. Please take the sound with your switches into account with any “metal” options. ABS looks good and would be great for the more average consumer but really hope there’s some kind of metal version at launch kind like with the new he+ module.

Design-wise, the Akko Mod 007B HE Alu seems like a better option, at a cheaper price even. Not to mention HE and traditional switch compatibility. Everyone knows people will only buy this for the software. Then again, software can be changed. Hardware can't.

​@@IstyManameHE stands for hall effect which is the sensors that allows them to measure how far the key is pressed, ofc including when it's lifted up (rapid trigger). Support for rapid trigger is inherent to all magnetic hall effect keyboards is my point

somewhat off topic, but will you guys make a tutorial for lazy lubing? i think Calder did a short tutorial on a stream a few months ago a vid to follow along would be cool

take some lube with a tiny brush, press the stem down, shove the brush in the rails and on the sides. Retake lube for each rail, take nothing for the sides. If you use the right amounts of lube you get the exact same result as painstakingly opening each switch in 1/3 of the time, I did half my keyboard this way and there is no difference between this method and the "standard one".

Honestly, we didn’t have the time to conjure an entire second design and want everything to fit together, focus on it being a material choice. We will be making more case designs in the future.
