To clarify one point regarding sound and feel: I have a VERY high bar when it comes to this bc of my background in customs, but on the gaming keyboard side - if you compare the stock sound and feel of the 80HE to the Razer Huntsman v3 Pro or the Steelseries Apex Pro, the 80HE absolutely walks on them. Seeing a lot of comments too that the firmware on the op's boards is not always consistent in game so I'm going to be running a Boog75 as my main board for the next two weeks to weigh the experience and I'll get back with another video on that.

One issue with the chinese wooting clones is their software is often a bit inconsistent in game. It'll work 9/10 times but every so often you get a random press or release that doesn't work. They also tend to be scuffed with updating new features (for example many chinese clones now have socd/snaptap - but their socd still has a lot of quirks and bugs to date).

@AbadeezАй бұрын
I hope you're alone because brand loyalty on any level is dumb. I'm saying that as part of the founder's campaign for the 80HE. I think the Apex Pro TKL Gen 3 might be a better option. I don't have the gen3 obviously as it just came out but it probably sounds very similar except it has more features and more software tools that are useful like auto-swapping profiles. Granted you do need to use the standalone app for that and it has been bloated over the years with the addition of Sonar and Moments which is so dumb but it does offer more features on the keyboard itself with an included magnetic wrist rest, media controls, the screen and metal faceplate as well as more software features now for $20 more. I will dump any brand any time if there's a better option whether that's the best option outright or best for the money. It could have the dumbest name to ever exist for a company but if it's the best product I will use it. All consumers should do the same, brand loyalty only helps the company not the consumer and we've had plenty examples of that in recent times.

Do NOT under any circumstances get the Steel Series Apex Pro. I had two in as many weeks and had nothing but trouble with them. The software constantly crashing while making adjustments (as in after every adjustment), led's getting stuck on a static colour on certain keys and worst of all the keyboard will just randomly start spamming phantom inputs and the only way to make it stop is a full firmware rollback and update (so it's not the actual hardware). According to the countless threads on reddit those are all issues that have existed for well over a year with no fix. I sent them back, got a Wooting, opened the software to adjust it once on the day I got it and have never had to touch the software again. It works flawlessly. Only adjustment I made was keeping the Steelseries Prism caps and putting them on the Wooting as I found some of the keys sounded a little metallic (mostly the spacebar) but it still sounded great out the box.

Keychron has Q3 HE now which is full TKL HE keyboard! It has web software too and it's 220. Seems like a better bet than 80HE ABS.

I wonder if they will make a zinc alloy 60he case; probably not but it might be a nice option and interesting comparison to the current Alumaze.

How about a Bad Seed case collab? Or a custom case from their open source specs?

I already have the 60 he in a custom body and as much as I like it for gaming it's just doesn't feel so great to type on compared to my Keychron. I do like the HE keyboards but I think I will wait for something that fits my sound preference and feels good to type on.
@wandering.westward2 ай бұрын
I'm honestly just more interested in keeping my modded (caseswap, plateswap, gat jades) 60he for gaming and my custom TKL of the moment for typing. The 80% layout is just not appealing to me at all.

If I’m gonna mod my wooting keyboard, is there any downside to going with the 60he vs the 80he?
@JakubixIsHereАй бұрын
60he has lots of options cases. 80he would have third party cases after files are released

This is almost identical to a TKL, but in a bit smaller of a footprint. Just curious what else you would gain from a traditional TKL? You can always remap keys to anything you want as well. Do you want a traditional TKL so that you can easily do case swaps or something? Are you perhaps mixing up TKL with a 75% layout?

He wants to use a normal layout keycap set I guess. I was baffled how they completely faqed the layout despite being so close to being a normal tkl😅

I have a logitech g915 tkl, and now I bought a razer deathstalker v2 pro, but I haven't decided if I wanna keep it or buy a wooting, the only thing that I dislike from a first glance is that it doesn't have the full 3x2 row of ins, del, home, end and pgup pgdown tho I don't really care about page up page down I guess I could remap the keyboard, another thing that I dislike is the lack of the volume wheel and media control, but I can do all that from my mouse so not a dealbreaker, hmm
@JakubixIsHereАй бұрын
Well i think they went with that layout because it is unique

Excellent review, mate! I tried the 60HE but was pretty disappointed in the build quality. I’ve been using the Keychron Q1 HE for several months. It quickly became my all time favorite keyboard. The 80HE looks promising. Still deciding if I want to drop nearly $300 on it, though. First world problems, of course. 😉
@StaySic4Ever2 ай бұрын
Very good. Wish it was TKL as I actually do use all those keys, this form factor didn't really save space so and no need for LED. Also I'd like to see more speed like switches, lower total travel.

Honestly the selling point for me is the software and not having to download it. I wish they'd make a mouse for the same reason.

I feel like the Q1 HE is better. It gets an aluminum case for $100 less and the software is the same thing. The design is much less "gamer killer", too. Plus, if you want TKL instead of 70-80%, Keychron just came out with the Q3 HE, which is a full TKL.
@TyGamer1252 ай бұрын
Kinda awkward that they spelled 75% wrong everywhere....... Also I feel like the price isn't competitive enough for the build quality as $200 for gasket abs is wild when many gasket abs keyboards are around $100. Even Keychron K2 HE is only going to be $130 but it's tray mounted.
