Try to remember that Maharaji is pointing out that there is a distinct difference between our lives and how they are lived,and life itself, which as he says comes to us one breath at a time Therefore, wearing saffron to distinguish one self, as a renunciate, from an average person, just advertises their feeling of seperateness,as distinct from those that have not renounced the world and thus like the serpant eating it's own tail,the outward SHOW of having "renounced",shows they have not.

he is dissing, not their meditation, but the fact that a certain exhibition of their spiritual choice actually exists: "you are so involved in making it right on the outside", meaning the yogis have to behave and dress in a certain way so that people can see and think they have renounced the world.
