Worcester's £60m library, 'The Hive'

It's definitely not the biggest public library in Europe, the British Library has about 70 times as many books, and adds the equivalent of a dozen hives every year!

I went to The Hive on an eco tour around the building i liked it!

it's got 5 floors, not 4... there's a basement floor for gaming and group study. it also has a lot of "Green" features, such as using water from the nearby river Severn for cooling in the summer. In terms of layout though, it's so hard to find anything >.

From outside it is stunning, but inside you soon realise what a mess it is in terms of design and organisation. The HE college have tricked the County Council into paying for their new facility and the place does not work for public or students. The staff (especialy the library) are hopeless, the book collection is as weak as it was in Foregate Street, the archive has been weakened and the HUB is understaffed and frustrating. For all that expense no service improvement, in some ways it is worse
