Teaching Tangkhul to My Wife Part 1

Susan and I have been married for 3 and a half years. I belong to the Tangkhul Naga community from Ukhrul, Manipur, in northeast India and Susan is from California. Since my parents and many of my villagers don't speak English, my wife has learned a little bit of Tangkhul. This is our first video where we review what she's learned and I teach her a little bit more.

Counting of numbers in both tangkhul and mongsen(Ao) n also the word for meat in both the languages are very much similar to our lotha language as well.e.g,1to15 in lotha: ekha, eni ,ethum,mezhu,mongo,tirok, tiying,tiza,toku,taro. Taro su ekha,taro su eni,taro su ethum,taro su mezhu,taro su mongo. N for meat in general we say 'oso' but when compounded with pig or chicken or cow, the initial letter 'o' in 'oso' (meat)gets deleted in the process of compounding and we get: woko+oso=wokoso(pork) Hono+oso=honoso(chicken) Mangsu+oso=mangsuso(beef) But for fish, we don't put it in the meat category just like tangkul language we simply say 'ongo' (fish)

Now thaungul words just like my Ao(mongsen) like very much 😱... Love from NAGALAND we say Aoksa (pork meat) and Aok for (pig) meat for (sa) and even 1-10

I hope many words would be similar with Mizo. numbers: Khat, hnih, thum, li, nga, ruk, sarih, riat, kua, sawm Meat: Arsa(chicken), vawksa(pork), kelsa(mutton), sangha(fish), sesa Mangtha mai aw (goodnight) Etc etc. There wouldnt be any problem for me to live with Tangkhul family
