Here I explained a bit more about SVG and EMF: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpzZhX2Opa9goJI EMF is basically a better standard for Office documents and it might even allow you to edit the EMF inside the document. The file size increase will depend on how many object you have in your EMF file, but I don't know any way to reduce the EMF size.

Is it true that the best way to convert a Word file to a PDF while preserving the quality of the images inside the file is by using (Adobe distiller)?

I've never used Distiller before, but it looks like you can only use it as a virtual printer within Word. If that is the case, then you might again see some blurryness around the edges. Ultimately, you'll have to test if it gives you better results, than other virtual PDF printers. At least Adobe Acrobat doesn't seem to enhance the quality. So, if Distiller runs on the same settings, I don't expect any improvement.

Never edited a document on my phone and can't recommend it. It's just not the proper environment to edit a professional document and with that, you'll be losing a lot of functionality

I don't know of any workaround. You could research if there is a better PDF printer, but in the end the image quality won't be as good as in the original images.

You'll have to test it, but if you file isn't a vector graphic, then I'm almost certain that you will lose quality when inserting it in Word

Unfortunately there is no proper solution I know. Maybe some PDF add-in will allow you to export a PDF in which the images have better quality but Word doesn't provide a good onboard tool.

if you're using non-vector images, then yes, they will always be blurry. It's just a matter of zooming. The mentioned settings are showing just the best you can do in Word.
