Three Dimensions of Advent - Bishop Barron's Sunday Sermon

Friends, we come to the First Sunday of Advent, which is the commencement of the new liturgical year. “Adventus” in Latin means arrival or coming, and one way to look at Advent is to see three comings of Christ. There is the coming of Christ in history in Bethlehem, the coming of Christ now as he approaches our hearts, and the coming of Christ someday in the future. All three of these dimensions belong to our Advent preparation.

One of the most powerful testimony in John's Gospel "And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.” as simple as that, the sublime truth, men hungered for since we evolved and worshipped anyone and anything, howsoever grotesque, lost in the haze of worship. It was true after all. He is real, the big bang and all, who gave direction and purpose to billions years of evolution to form us in the end. It was all for us. The energies of the Universe to culminate in us. Pope Benedict in his interview with the journalist, "the dim lights of worship from humankind like fading stars were pointers to this bright star of Bethlehem"....

That's what I always say, Jesus is not a myth, He is history, he's God. All those scientists, archeologists, and atheists failed to prove otherwise. In fact, some of them, during their missions to prove their point, they became Christians. In the Catholic Church, I see this fact, I feel it, and the more I go deep into it, the deeper my faith becomes.

Paul was right concerning himself when he said: "For God has consigned all men to disobedience, that he may have mercy upon all." [Romans 11: 32]. That's Christ speaking: "Why do you call me good? No one is good but God alone." [Mark 10: 18]. Even anti-christians agree that Jesus Christ is not a myth. Yes, it's the fulfillment of a longer story. It's not Chronos, Zeus, some figure of Orphic Hymns, Hermes, Minos, Menes, Thoth, Narmer or some Polbanian legendary figure or any other Stonehenge druid maple-clown. However, I don't see how Dante Alligeri, who envisioned himself in Paradise with Beatrice Portinari, a married wife of Simone de Bardi, can be taken as a reference point for making postulates, true assumptions... conclusions. It's a comedy that Christ himself experienced while he was alive when he was faced with the Pharisees playing Diablo (the divider) asking about when should a men divorce his wife. The answer to the mob-mentality seeking justification for commiting adultery: "... but from the beginning, it was not so" [Matia 18:8]. Adam is held accountable. You can preach the 72 underage virgins in paradise to a different day-dreamer from the rebellion of Korah since Dante Alligeri seems to agree with your line of thought on "keeping the word" and the how-to attack someone baptised and confirmed in the Roman Rite.
