I would like to know why I don't have a Reader's Tab or why I don't have a Market under Tools.

Hi there, it sounds like you are using a self-hosted websites, which are sites that you create on a "traditional web host" instead of directly on WordPress.com. On our platform the Reader functionality is installed by default but if you have a self-hosted site you can add it via the Jetpack plugin: jetpack.com Once it's installed you can follow the guide here to get your Reader set up: jetpack.com/support/reader/

As a total beginner, I found this great from the point of view of using Word Press. But I feel like most instructional videos, it misses out the process of how a website is linked with your Word Press postings, and why people are going to get to read them. I still feel that I don't know what I don't know. I mean ... what is the process whereby a reader comes across my blog? If it's just on Wordpress, then I'm not sure how anyone would come across it.

Hi, and thanks for asking! There are a few ways a reader might find your blog; for example by searching the internet for terms similar to the ones you use on your blog, or by using the WordPress.com Reader view to find blogs which discuss the topics they are interested in. They may also find your blog if you leave a comment on another person's blog post! As long as you are tagging/categorizing your posts, this will help them to be discovered more easily. Blogging Quick Start omits how to set up a blog/post page which is fundamental to understanding. It begins by adding a post to an existing blog page. It then becomes quite confusing and it is not clear whether you set up a post template or create each post from scratch. Clearly you did not user test this. Finally too much material on tags/categories and archive???
