I was doing some remodeling and screwed up the ground cover. This shows how I fixed it.
My model railroad is a 10' x 13' HO scale shelf layout set on Long Island in the mid 1960s (give or take). Why I model the LIRR is a long story... I am in the process of changing part of the layout to add more waterfront and the Phelps-Dodge copper refinery.

It thought the original was concrete with expansion lines in it. I thought it looked good - if that much concrete ever looked good. Anyway, it turned out to be fine. Dirt is grainy no earth is consistent just paint it a couple of colors of brown with a dash or two of black then flock it with. 4mm grass. You could raise cattle on it.😉

Even though it looks basically the same, just covered with gravel, I actually had to do a lot. When I took out the overhead crane it tore big divots out of the matte board which were not fixable. Then in order to fit the switch in I had to tear everything out and re-lay all the track. The old matte board is now there just to bring the gravel layer up even to the top of the ties. And cows would just poop everywhere. :)

I just can't resist some good sarcasm. Love it! BTW - are you pure lefty or ambidextrous lefty (like my wife)? My right hand provides balance so I can walk in a straight line, and doesn't do much else.

@@jeffbranch8072 I play guitar (poorly) right handed, that's about it. Although some would say fretting with the dominant hand is the correct way to play and everyone else is doing it wrong!

@@longislandrailroadmontaukb982 , I played bass "right handed" for that reason exactly, and on bass typically plucking individual strings, not strumming chords. Plus a lot easier finding one in the music store than shopping for left handed.
