My brother was thinking about changing his major from chemical engineering because he didn’t know if he’d like it or not. And when he told me this I had just watched a Harvard graduate’s commencement speech about this. So I repeated it to my brother. It went along the lines of this: “Choosing a career is like Netflix. You spend half an hour choosing a show to watch without ever watching anything. We spend so much time deciding what to be, that by the time we figure it out, we could’ve already been something. Be decisive. Pick a show and watch it to the end and it will be so much better than spending all your time wondering what could be, and then, what could’ve been”

He makes it so there are no more lies I can trick myself into believing, no more excuses that I can make for my behavior whilst simultaneously judging others for the same sins I commit. With insights such as he gives here, I am forced to either accept that I am a failure of a man and just roll over and let the tides drag me under, or stand up and earn my place at the table, redeem myself for a decade of complacency and self indulgence. Bad news you don't get to see all your character defects as soon as you look in the mirror I can tell you from my own experience of looking at myself in the mirror for 30 years that there's still stuff being revealed around my fears and actions and the causes and conditions that forged me into the person I became. I've not been in a relationship with a woman for over 10 years for example because my judgement of potential partners is terrible turns out Iam quite happy on my own including travelling around Europe by myself. I agree with what saint Paul wrote. The good things I want to do I don't do The bad things I don't want to do I do .So if I do the things I don't want to do then I conclude it is sin living in me. He got that special gift that young children have example a child called Bob does something wrong like scribbles all over his bedroom wall with a marker pen mother walks in and starts shouting at Bob. Bob says oh Bob has been naughty not I've been naughty a special gift indeed. Apparently most people when they reach the age of 40 don't bother learning much more about themselves as they figure theve got enough life experiences to see them tru until they die.a key to learning about how I tick and causes and conditions is relax it's a life time journey

As a Christian I say this with sadness; there is more truth being applied here than a lot of churches out there. We don't teach about sacrifice, but in order to be something you want to be you must sacrifice something, if you want to live as a drug addict you must sacrifice money, health, relationships, if you want to be a man or woman you sacrifice childish things.
@dandude51965 жыл бұрын
Many churches are “selling” salvation to create a financial institution. The pastors want more money fast because they want a bigger raise. If you want truth, you have to be willing to be an outcast. Jesus is my Lord and Savior, but being a faithful person will not make you popular. Jesus says Luke 6:46 KJV [46] And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Matthew 10:36-38 KJV [36] And a man's foes shall be they of his own household. [37] He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is “not worthy of me.” [38] And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is “not worthy of me.” Have you heard these verses in church? Not too often. You hear -We are more than conquerors in Christ Jesus -No enemy formed against you shall prosper -I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me -If God be for us, who can be against us? Great verses but used in a way to tell half the truth. They use: Romans 10:13 KJV [13] For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Jesus is there for us no doubt if we call on him, but.... the King of the Jews says Matthew 7:21 KJV [21] Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Calling on the name of the lord and saying Grace covers my sins regardless of how I live is just a lie. Find where Jesus speaks about Grace in the gospels the way false churches are using it today. You won’t even find it. 1 John 1:9 KJV [9] “If” we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If means we have to do it in order to obtain the result. Share with whomever you wish. Be blessed. PS. I believe in paying Tithes and do 10%. I cannot tell you the blessings upon which doing so God has given me. I got married and paid nothing anymore, and I got laid off, became poor and got divorced. I gave to God again, and he saved my home and my financial crisis. Trust me, give unto God the things that are God’s and he will bless you, but the ones that say “$1,000” seed is used in many false teaching churches. Listen to how many verses they quote that are hard to listen to, If it’s John 3:16 and that’s it, then you need to find a place that preaches the Bible.

@@dandude5196 Totally, and you would be hard pressed to find a pastor teaching on when Jesus said 'if any man would follow me He must deny himself and pick up his cross' not 'say this prayer.' In fact no where in the Bible regarding salvation does anyone say ask Jesus into your heart and than your saved. Also Jesus said that if we don't hate our own mother brother or family more than Him than we are not worthy of Him. That's a hard teaching. Also Jesus said if you don't eat my flesh and drink my blood than you won't have life and turned away thousands because of this. Count the cost....We became sloppy with our evangelism around the time when technology started to boom and everyone wanted everything right away. So men crept in unnoticed as the scriptures say, and they always have, but that's why we have always had a remnant who would rise up and rebuke them for I believe that we are in a great falling away, an apostasy. But there is always hope. I personally don't believe in tithing for different reasons, but if God put it on your heart than do it brother. No qualms about it.
@dandude51965 жыл бұрын
Gabriel M. I agree with about 90% of your message. You would really enjoy using the Tecarta Bible App. It’s free and easy to find scriptures so download that and it will help. Matthew 22:17-21 KJV [17] Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not? [18] But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites? [19] Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny. [20] And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? [21] They say unto him, Caesar's. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's. Malachi 3:8 KJV [8] Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me. But ye say, Wherein have we robbed thee? In tithes and offerings. Hebrews 13:8 KJV [8] Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever. John 10:30 KJV [30] I and my Father are one. So that is my breakdown, but search the scriptures for yourself. I will say this... I paid tithes 10% since I was a child mowing the grass... I continued through every part time job... I got into a limited enrollment program. Graduated with honors. And paid off my school loans! I had a job after I got out of school. and paid off my car! All before 26! And all that still paid my tithes. I got married at 26 I stopped paying tithes... I fell in my shower cutting my eyelid and needed 9 stitches. I got laid off two weeks later divorced within 9 months of marriage no job for 6 months straight I had great references and great GPA and still no job. I finally got down to the wire before having to decide to sell the house.... That month one night I cried out to God to grant me a job... He did! And I started paying tithes again. I got laid off again but soon after got another great job that paid well! I have continued to pay and have been debt free ever since!!!! Trust the Lord. If you try it even though it logical seems like you would lose money, God will turn it around and bless you abundantly. This is not a sell. This is a testimony of real life events from my life. Peace! ✌️

Hook was still the “adult infant” that cried and threw tantrums when he didn’t get his way or when saw the crocodile, while Pan actually became the man Hook always fancied himself as but never actually was.

Self-reflecting on his words opened my eyes to the realization that I had been refusing to accept the responsibilities that I owe to myself. Having done this, no, I will not become the person I always dreamed that I would become(then again none of us really do) but I will be someone and that's a hell of alot better than being no one.

This year has been the biggest most beautiful (and painful) transition for me into a woman who is independent, willing to just shut up, grit my teeth and work on finishing my PhD. What comes after will be determined by what I do and sacrifice in these times. Ill come back here when Im done to see how I did (watch this space)

I’m 20, and I read and listen to all of these stories and wise words. And I swear I’m still a kid and I’m holding of on being what I really need to be. It feels like I’m on the brink of change. But it’s a unsettling feeling. I want to live the life I’ve always wanted to, and I don’t want to wait. Theres a quote I always keep in mind. “Don’t fear change, fear being in the same exact place next year as you are now.” And recently I haven’t moved up at this studio I intern at and it’s been a year. And goals and dreams I’ve wanted to accomplish for the year haven’t come true yet. I’m trying to not beat myself up and I know I have A LOT of work to do. It just sucks cause I feel like I’m on my own, and I’m struggling to mature further. I apologize for venting but this video has me motivated but at the same time worried cause I know what I need to do. I just want someone or I just need to love myself more. I don’t know honestly....

"If there is no struggle, there is no progress" Fredrick Douglass 1857 ...when i first discovered the story of Mr. Frederick Douglass and read these words, it struck me as so profound with true depth of meaning about this man's character. It certainly inspires humility. His life story takes the willing reader to quickly take stock of her/his own attitudes and embrace some gratitude for the life they are living. Especially when considering the harsh times Douglass astoundingly prevailed through. Thank you professor, I'm honoured to have the opportunity to listen, hear and contemplate your messages of deep meanings, humility and call to action!

I recall Dr. Esther Perel, the foremost authority on relationships who asked her audience if they ever had a mentor in their lives...only a few stood up. It just goes to show you that, in all manner of ways, so many people are misguided about love and life and it's understandable that Peterson has become the mentor to millions because he sees things in ways our parents and those before them never did. Then you have our educational institutions who are just as bad as our parents in bringing to our attention the need to learn what it means to be human.

I believe you are making a mistake, EJ. I say this because you are unknowingly thinking in absolutes and I'm sure Peterson would agree it's a bad idea. While it's true that the left wing has its problems, so does the right wing, respectively. In one of Peterson's videos, he said we need liberal values to protect the working and middle class, race, the poor, and those of different sexual orientation, provided liberals don't go to extremes which, unfortunately, they have done. The issue, as I see it, is that left and right wing both have different and legitimate claims but as long as they remain entrenched in their arrogant righteous stance, nothing good with come of it and Trump is not helping as fans the flames of anger by smearing and attacking those in the democratic party because they refuse to obey his every word. If Trump really cared, if he really wanted to make a positive difference, he would invite Peterson to the White House for a long chat on the most pressing concerns facing humanity. Sadly, Trump decides to bring instead the most superficial people on earth: Kayne West and Kim Kardashian and other entertainers who live in their own bubble hence unaware of the harsh realities so many people are facing. Sad to say, the Democrats fare no better.
@GnosisMan505 жыл бұрын

Magnus Jonsson I do not think Flesh and blood revealed this to him. Maybe you need to watch the clip again. This vid is hitting me where it hurts, I'm 29 almost 30, and I've been job hopping for the past 7 years almost. Ive moved a couple times just to take another job that eventually wouldn't quite work out. Ive been battling depression since I was 13, ever since I was taken off Ritalin. Coincidence? But I'm at a point now where I just want a job that doesn't make me wanna kill myself. Ive pretty much accepted that a wife and kids isn't an option, I feel I would indeed kill my self if I was trapped with that much pressure and responsibility. But a good job opportunity might open for me soon, so I need to take heart. I'm certified as an XRay tech. I worked a few jobs in healthcare and they were either too much stress or they just didn't work out. Ive been working in an office job that's been going well for about 6 months but I got a new manager recently and things have changed drastically for the worse. I may have an opportunity to get back into healthcare, though, and at least make more money. Jesus is all I have. Happy Easter everyone.

I think its important to note that what he means by taking responsability is not equal to material and social success. Also he obviates in his discourses lots of intervening factors that are determining in an individuals life. Don't buy the full of his narrative. One can learn a lot from him, but a great deal aswell from a critique to him (which I strongly recommend). Also, people tend to misinterpret him and take only the most "brutal" untextured part of his message. Take responsability, certainly. But it looks to me that you have been doing that a lot. Taking responsability doesnt mean wage slaving in dead end jobs for life, or having to struggle with debt and lack of opportunities. His message lacks any consideration for social reality. So mate, don't let his aggressive discourse get to you excessively, and keep on struggling and working it out, as everybody does.
