Work experience submission to GARP for FRM Certification

Just a question is it acceptable if i work for 1 yr or less then in one company in finance risk related domain and then change the company to another one for 1 yr. More or less is it acceptable by garp if i switch the company but do complete 2 years in total in the domain?

Yes total work duration should be 2 years. Doesn't matter if u change company.

Thanks for the resourceful information. I worked in a bank in product development which involves some credit scoring stuffs. But that was more than 10 yrs ago. I have now transitioned into academics after earning a PhD. I am teaching economics, finance and risk management courses. Also I have published numerous journal papers on bank management as well as providing some research consultancy to some research institutes. Do you consider my work experience relevant? Your advice will be appreciated.

Yes .. totally fine .. as per GARP 2 years of total experience is required and not 2 years of continuous experience.

Sir, I have worked as branch executive into broking firm for 7 months (HDFC Securities). Work was to help clients into execution of trading strategies and advising on other financial products. And for last 1.5 years I have been working as Assistant Manager in ICICI Prudential Asset Management Company, where my work profile involves guiding clients into investment in Mutual Funds, PMS, AIF. It is better to finish FRM with graduation... For job based on FRM u should clear both parts .. experience is not required...

Designation is doesn't matter. GARP considers actual work for certification. Generally if u are working in bank .. GARP considers it as relevant work ..

I passed Part II this May and submitted my work experience yesterday, the first three months of my 2 years I did a traineeship in a Big 4 in Risk Consulting, will this qualify? I know they say they don’t accept internships - this was a paid, full-time (40h per week) traineeship though, with me receiving the exact same tasks and duties as Junior Advisors in the department, so it would be a real bummer if they rejected this…

Only full time job is accepted as experience. Even if you're experience is rejected you can start ur job after part ii and submit experience later.

Yes .. only full time job experiences are considered relevant for certification experience. Bt don't bother about certification itself. Companies don't bother about certification. FRM L2 clear is sufficient for them.

Sir, I worked for 2+ years as a stock broker under my uncle (Family member) where i guided different clients about mutual funds and investment, trading activities. My role was to help my clients on there investments. I advised multiple clients on trading in options strategy like straddle strangle etc.. So can this experience be considered relevant.

@@himanshu24126 GARP will never ask your salary slip. Experience is either rejected or accepted. You have to provide company details. and contact number of your manager. So lets see what happens at the time of submission, If your goal is to get job based on FRM then dont worry about certification. FRM Part II Clear is enough.
