I like the idea that they're in this casual monster world, where demons, snakes and other creatures are just normal. So when they're working from home its like "Apocalyptic creature on the loose" And instead of panicking they're instead like "Man that's a bummer but I really gotta get this work done" Not even like they don't understand the danger, the snake reminds her of each window location, but it's just a really funny scenario when you think about it.
@Solinaru

I think that's what make Zed's games work so well. The way people act so casual but still on alert means that this is a world where these issues have existed for decades or centuries. It really fills in a world while making every character reasonable and rational in a difficult situation.

People do adapt remarkably fast. Slightly bummer example: I teach ESL to adults. About 10 years ago I was teaching when the fire alarm went off. I was explaining what the sound meant and getting students lined up for an organized evacuation. One student, a Syrian asylee, told me she had to get her computer from next door. I tried to object and she just looked at me flatly and said, "I'm used to working through bombs. Do you think I'm afraid of a little fire?"

@Zack_Zander
@Zack_Zander Жыл бұрын
It’s always the subtle jump scares that you would least expect. It’s just that rarely some of them are good while most are just cheap jumpscares. This is that if they used said jumpscares well with the surroundings and background (usually by making you focused or relaxed), it adds more to the unnerving feeling that something is not right, which makes it better This probably caused Manly’s method of slowly turning around when he gets that “feeling”. Example/Edit: Such as how a previous game got Manly to get surprised by a woman in a non-scary room while Manly was prepared for a jump scare in every suspicious room before that. And another example is that VHS Cabin game where Manly was distracted by a monitor and didn't even notice a creature watching him in the window that scared him. Which causes him to expect another jumpscare that never happens.
@PK_Scratch

It's the lack of sound. It keeps the audio in game consistent with the world so you don't get a cheap jumpscare noise. It just let's the situation speak for itself.

Never expected Zed to become one of my favorite devs, but here I am loving every release. I imagine it's to do with how out-in-the-open the homebrew aspects of the games are, like the wide variety in puzzles between games and the unabashedly... intriguing character designs. No need to dress it up in fancy shaders, just feels like a dev genuinely enjoying the process of making and trying new things!

So I’m pretty sure Deborah…. Or specifically- Deborah AND Sammy, are a manticore (edit: she’s actually more likely to be a chimera. I got my mythical beasts mixed up lol thank you commenter). In my opinion, their characters are very creative and well done- it’s an interesting concept to have two personalities in one character, instead of Deborah just having a generic snake tail. Zed also only had to make one model for both of the characters- which is a pretty smart move, cause it saves time and effort. Probably my favorite ZedTech character(s). A+ for excellence in character design. (Also: Deborah is super purty- I like her face. If I’m being honest, it looks like they’re improving in graphic design. 👍🏻)

Given the wings, horns and snake, Deborah might very well be a manticore, or the female equivalent from mythos, the chimera which isn't out of the normal for this universe
@The-Omega-Blade
@The-Omega-Blade 4 ай бұрын
She can't be a manticore solely because of Sammy, Deborah AND Sammy are a Chimera, as their model in game is attached and Deborah having a snake tail is showing for her being a Chimera, as Manticore's don't normally have snake tails. Along with this, Chimera's can vary in animals they are hybrids of, but a largely typical one is a Grython, which is winged, (usually) hornned beast.

God I love Zed's games so much! They really do have that timing of calm and tension loops down pat. The writing is so good as well, let alone the comedic timing and banter between the people we care about so much. The world the've created is also balanced so well between the mundane heartless requirements of everyday institutions (much like in RL) while also dealing with the supernatural getting in the way as well. (For for better like the Shadowcatcher and some for worse like the Man in the Window) If all of that wasn't enough, I just love the cheesecake that gets served up as well. If you're going to play a game, might as well have some fun in the middle of it all. x3

They should make a horror game where the horror is how much the game tries to fuck with you. Like it's sentient and is explaining all the dirty tricks it's using to make you go crazy. Like the music hiding alarming sound effects in it, or the normal scenery looking like a man in the corner from certain angles, or looking like jump scares when they're not animate (still counts as an uncanny jump scare) or even like a glitch happening and maybe the game pretends it doesn't know why it's happening and pretends to alarm you about it but in reality it's making you combat a thing that it is doing to you, and the joke is that you're going to die from it anyways.

30:27: Slow down the video playback to 0.25 and you can get a good look at the creature. It has a lanky body like the "Man from the Window" but its appearance is more feral with long claws, hair, and a animal-like posture.

Ngl, Zed’s art style has really grown on me. It’s very distinctive, especially compared to other devs in this genre, and quite nice to look at, being both simplistic and detailed, with the colors suiting the mood really nice. Not exactly related but he’s also quite good at dialogue.

For me, I'm interested in Zed's games because I want to see what character(s) are being featured ("What kind of human hybrid is it this time?"), what they're up against, and how they are supposed to deal with it. It's pretty interesting to see a new scenario. That said, this one is actually pretty light on story and scenes? Of course, not every game needs to be elaborated like that, but I do appreciate how the diner one showed the aftermath when you succeed, and even I could feel the shock value of getting those tips, and how desperate the characters were. And the hospital one? Might have the most elaborated narrative. Those good endings, were _really_ good. Getting to sleep in is good too, and this one still does a little world building, but, yeah, I wouldn't say this one is quite up there with the ones before. But it's still a cool new scenario, mind you, so I'm not saying it's bad.

Maybe one of the future games can elaborate on the corporation featured in this game. See how they like when they're directly hit by one of these occurrences. While I'm sure that it's the wagies who will suffer at first, they could at least have an ending that affects the top brass, and maybe acknowledge Deborah's excellence too, of doing her job amidst an occurrence.

I absolutely love watching you play this developer's games. The characters are so loveable, the art style is immediately recognizable, and you can get ACTUAL good endings where everyone survives, albeit with a streak of trauma from the whole ordeal, to go on with their lives. I liked the one game where there was even continuity with the characters, the MC from the first game was now a grandma and her son's daughter was the new character that needed protection. I'm rambling, but these games just hit every chord for me in perfect harmony.

Damn, thank god her work just requires her to click orders on the comp. Imagine having to type up the orders on the keyboard with her claws like that. It'd be like watching a secretary that had their designer nails done, type on the keyboard so slowly with one finger, because they doesn't want to mess up their nails...

Good solid gameplay mechanics building on their general formula. A bit less personality to the characters this time around, which feels surprising to say considering one of them is a butt snake. The detail of the kid in college was good. I normally see Manly complete the games successfully first time around, which suggests this time the margins were very tight. Not a bad thing so long as it's not to an unfair degree. With that body type, lying face down isn't all that easy or comfy. Side sleeper squad!

I always enjoy the idea of a tiny talking snake buddy popping out with characters - similarly with Changsheng in Genshin Impact - also really enjoy everyone having a similar "snake-like" voicing when they do On another note, I'm just theorizing that the Man in the Window just has a whole slew of these, similar-esque creature threats in the same family that just happen to terrorize this specific world's residents (on top of all the other shenanigans like haunted mansions, gods and goddesses threatening to take over the world over stolen relics, catchers trying to return people to a shadow realm, etc.)

I like that this demon can be fended off by just laying down and covering your face. Like, this would not be an issue if not for the fact her work's online systems failed and required her to put in orders manually on this specific night. And also the fact that the broadcast also had instructions just in case there were people who were too busy with other things to do that and still needed to fend off a literal supernatural entity.

I think I've said it before, but I'll do it again in case I haven't: at this point, Zed Technician is a staple game developer here on this channel. The urban fantasy setting isn't as popular (from what I could tell), so seeing it being implemented time and time again in their in-game universe is nice to see.
