EXCELLENT review! You intuitively understood pretty much everything without needing to have it explained. Unfortunately the first run of 300 is sold out and you probably won't see them again till spring of 2022. BUT... Around the end of next month the JXVs come out. The JXV is the WTG version of the now-discontinued Bark River JX5. It may not be 3V, but it's superior to the JX5 in that it's exactly the way I wanted it. Sometimes you gotta give in a little when other people make your stuff and BR wanted that moran-style handle. That took away a bit more of the neutral balance and back grip chopping power. The JXV has the exact same handle as the Omega, and can still do the balanced fine work like feathersticks, but it's a bit more of a chopper in its primary use. The JX5 was one of the two most popular designs. The other popular BR is also going to be ported-over to WTG: The JX6mk2. It will be a smaller SK85 knife with a kydex sheath/Ulti-Clip system for front pocket carry. The design isn't likely to be monkeyed with because it's already perfect. All my WTG knives are DLT Trading exclusives. That's why the runs are 300-ish pieces instead of the smaller infrequent runs on the WTG site. Check my channel for the two guys doing aftermarket Omega sheaths. Doug Wilson (yellow hawk) does the Kydex and Michael Spanjers does leather.

Thanks! yeah man, you did great. I really like it. It's a design that needs to be used to be understood. Someone can look at it and make assumptions, but field use prevails. It's a serious performer...well done!

JX Omega is my favorite woods knife which I carry all the time in my backpack. I love the long handle which makes it a great chopper, also a great counterweight for fine work. A great review of a great knife. Thanks

Never owned or used a WTG blade, although most look pretty cool (with the exception of this one) but I'll stick with my junglas. It's done me good so far. Thanks for the review though, they're always very in depth!

Nice I would however prefer it's handle be 1in shorter, blade 1in longer, and have a brass half (at least) hilt, brass pins, 1/4in thick, k340 steel..of course kydex.

@outerlimitless3 жыл бұрын
The Chanto is roughly slated for mid-October if things are still on target. I think they've already started the process. More to come soon!! I'll make an announcement when I find out more.

Chris from Prepared Mind 101 has created a very good Knife in the JX Omega. Work Tuff Gear producing the JX Omega has done a better job on the Knife than Schrade did.

@outerlimitless3 жыл бұрын
The JX Omega is at DLT... check the link below. What people need to know about WTG is that they are a mid-tech maker so their knives are generally released in small batches of roughly 150 units. They sell out almost instantaneously in many cases. You should watch their Facebook Adventure Team and Instagram where you'll generally see information about when the knives release. That's your best bet to getting your hands on one. Hope that helps!

I don't generally use a lanyard...I don't like having blades attached to my hand or wrist in the event that I need to drop them out of the way. I prefer just a good handle design and geometry to keep it in place. Thanks for watching!

QUESTION ; Which knife do You like Better , this JX-OMEGA or the Puzon Wilderness Bowie 9" ???

Two completely different knives... but I would definitely say the PWB9. The PWB7 is probably a better comparison to the Omega if you're interested.

Man...at minute /:54 you say: "I love WTGs convex edge" ...I think you got a little carried away there friend ... JX Omega has absolutely no way in h... a convex grind .... I think you were thinking about Bark River when you spoke.... please be more careful not to induce novices in error ... if JX Omega would have had a convex grind it would have been the PERFECT knife ... and I talk because I just bought as well and also tested it. If your friend Chris from @PREPAREMIND101 would have been still collaborating with BARK RIVER I guess that we would have been lucky enough to have the JX Omega Bark Rivered :) Anyhow ...I respect you and also Chris ... Keep it up!

Although I appreciate your comment, please check your facts. And if I make a mistake, I will be the first to admit it. But almost EVERY...and I think maybe EVERY single WTG knife has a convex edge. I mean literally EVERY SINGLE ONE. If you own the JX Omega then you should know that. It is a Saber Ground knife with a convex secondary bevel. Seeing as though I design for WTG I should know that...but then again...who am I? So, at whatever time I say convex grind, the answer is, YES it is. It is not a typical V grind. Check yours...and you will agree.

@@REDARO11 Type of grind Saber grind with convex cutting edge Dude this is straight off the WTG website for their other models! This is the exact same case for the JX Omega. @@outerlimitless it is a matter of perspective... for me convex grind is made by Bark River ... the convex on this is so small that I can not put it under the category of convex. To me is still a V grind. Do not take it personal ... I am sure that you had difficulties when splitting wood (look min. 3:24 .. a Bark River would have exploded that piece)... a true convex is helping with that matter ....anyhow.... what I meant is being so small I can not put it under the convex category ...that is all. Anyhow consider it my bad ... I do not want to upset you nor to pick a fight with you. And also for the record ...I do not mind looking like a fool ... nowadays .... looking as a fool is totally relative ... in this crazy times ...ask yourself who isn't a fool ahahha :) Peace Brother Man! Nota bene: I like the knife ...and I like the design mostly because of the long handle ;) but as you I have experienced difficulties when battoning but I sill like it :)
