Your memories are accurate. Hains Point sucked on Sunday. It was much nicer last Wednesday and Thursday (at least the parts south of Buckeye Drive) and seems better today (Monday). Really unfortunate for all who tried to go and take advantage of the nice weather on Sunday though.

Hains Point and the Tidal Basin should have been 100% car-free! Only open to emergency vehicles and buses. On Thursday when I went there was an emergency vehicle that was having a tough time getting through the stand-still traffic near the Tidal Basin. Plus like you said, it's just way nicer without people honking their horns and the general noise of cars. Nice video! I hope that you get to enjoy more spring and cherry blossom events! I know I am in April!

Hains Point was a shit show this year. We’ve been spoiled these last few years of the pandemic with there being less people. The tourists came back in full force this year - some folks even parked on the shoulder of 395 to walk to the Tidal Basin 🤦‍♀️
