Hi Charlotte. Enjoyed going along with you for your first week at work. Your smile was so bright. Love seeing you happy in your new job! It is so normal to have that exhausted feeling at the end of the work day. It will be that way for a while probably. Try to find small things to do in your evenings as you adjust to the work world, like your reading, listening to music, going for a short walk, your gym classes, or meeting a friend for an early dinner. You can adjust your evenings more as you get use to this new life style. I would enjoy seeing more of the week in your life videos. It was really fun! Have a great Friday and a wonderful weekend! 🌷🩷🌷🩷

The first month of the job I have was the hardest. Had no idea how much my head would hurt from getting up to speed with everything! I promise it gets better

Glad your first week went well, I’m still getting adjusted transitioning from school to work. I miss being more in control of my schedule and being able to run errands or walk whenever I’m not in class during the day.(since I’m now working a full 8 to 5(430 most days)

Hi Charlotte! I'm a few years removed from graduation and definitely don't feel discouraged about feeling drained and tired after work. It's unfortunately a very common experience and nothing can really prepare you for the shock to the system. I remember my first time working full time and feeling like I had no energy to do anything after work and even on the weekends because it felt like I had to recover. School and work are really different things and it takes time to get accustomed to focusing for 7+ hours every day even if it's something you love doing/there is variety! Your stress levels will hopefully go down, though. One of the great things about work is often it's confined to working hours, unlike school. One thing I found really helpful for keeping motivation up after work was getting movement into my body immediately after getting home. It's awesome that you are attending formal workout classes, but I found even a 10 minute super easy yoga session on my bedroom floor or a short walk around the block did wonders for my energy levels and post-work motivation rather than immediately laying/sitting down and never wanting to get up ever again. You can look into easy regenerative stretches for people with desk jobs to start, which also will keep your posture good and your back/hips from rebelling on you. I also recommend making standing plans that get you out of the house. It's great to have something to look forward to. In all, don't stress about having routines this early in your professional life either. It can take time. However, definitely take these weeks/months to experiment on what motivating post-work things might work for you while you don't have to also think about planning and making dinner. It's something I wish I took more advantage of as I was also still living with my parents when I started work. Good luck! I'm loving following your journey.
