Figures look good Clay! I commend you on at least doing them. I’m actually a figure painter first and then an armor modeler. Fortunately, I teach hs art, so things came a little more natural. That being said, I can totally understand newbies getting turned off by it at first. I think your tutorial will at least get some more modelers to at least try your techniques!👍🏾

Nice technique! I'll give it a try! I find Figure painting daunting. I suggest using a champagne cork as a base for better figure handling while painting! I hope this helps

Hmm! Interesting with the different shape cork. Great idea thanks for the suggestion 🙏

Great video, thank you Clayton! Always appreciate "easy" lessons on painting figures for those of us for whom the figures are more of just complements to a vehicle or diorama.

Very good simple technique well explained and demonstrated. I will only ad my own favourite figure painting heresy , dry brushing can just add a little extra.

I really enjoy figure painting as well ! It kills me when someone that i follow says,” i struggle with figure painting “ and it still turns out 100% better than mine 😅

Great tutorial Clayton! I agree that figures enhance a model’s environment, but like a lot of armour modellers, I shy away from them a lot and put them in the ‘too hard’ basket. At 70+ years of age, I have a lot of trouble with failing eyesight and shaky hands, so I tend to make a lot of mistakes and that has frustrated me when trying figures. Like yourself, I have a lot of figures in my own stash which may not even see the light of day. Nevertheless I will keep trying, and hopefully I will get a reasonable result eventually. Love the channel mate, so keep the content coming. Cheers for now!

My view on painting eyes: Have someone stand 35 feet away and look at their face. What do you see of their eyes. lips, nostrils, ears, etc. This would be a good guide to how a 1/35 figure should look.
@workbenchhobbies4316 Жыл бұрын
I guess I look at it a little differently because a lot of the stuff I make ends up under the macro lens and can be a little unforgiving. Really comes down to the sculpt for me. Appreciate you connecting here on the channel 👍😎

@@workbenchhobbies4316 I don't do contests but I understand building to what the judges expect rather than does it look real. I do like your technique and using the oil paints. I'il have to check out more of your videos.
