Compassion...a precious human attribute. We all need to be compassionate. We do not know that state of their marital affairs and whether both parties were already on the road to a divorce. We are in a different era. We have not heard from them their side of the story. Politics cannot be the High Priest of Morality. Politics is about self-sacrifice, has plenty of stress and being in the Opposition is even less rewarding financially. My best hope is that after a period of reflection and resolving their personal issues, both can re-enter politics. This is not international sports, legal or medical professions where lifetime bans are imposed. If they can contribute to Singapore, they should be given a second chance. Fewer people will want to step into the political era given the adverse publicity from recent scandals.

It's kinda amusing actually to hear all these comments from the affected GRCs. Which MP will not put up a smiling look and "I am listening to you" face when they actually are walking the grounds? How many residents actually gotten help? My MP was a PAP MP. His assistants were so convincing that I'll get the help I need. They were so good with their words! It's like, you will feel so assured you're in safe hands that you leave so happy you got your problem solved. In the end, my problem wasn't solved at all, my second attempt to meet the MP was met with reasons that "MP is very busy today, we'll make sure we follow up your case". I left without any hope and true enough, what I requested help for wasn't aided. I am a resident in toa payoh. Still am. The MP in question was Mr H Kumar. The first time I see him face to face, he didn't even look at me in the eyes. He was busy typing off his computer. My offense? Getting fined smoking under the shelter under heavy rain when that law was just introduced. I was "caught" by cisco NEA appointed "officers". They targeted me because I was alone. There was another hot spot about 50M away with tons of smokers. They choose to come to me because they know they cannot apprehend a crowd. Maybe my case can be referred to as kachang puteh small matter chicken shit issue. But, from my point of view, I got played by these so called "sincere and caring PAP personnels". I guess they do know who I voted for since I am eligible to vote 20 over years ago. Thus my fate. I have spoken with many older Singaporeans in their 50s-70s not as an MP but as a person. Their views on why they support the PAP is none other than Mr LKY. None of them are singing the same tunes about Mr LKY's sons. They are resigned to seeing further change because they know they will not live to see it. As someone privileged as me, to witness and learn about LKY'S legacy growing up, studying him in school to a kid calling him a despot in public, and seeing his son take over as PM and he himself become MM, then discovering the HARD truths about what he did in history to his political opponents....his death, until the current climate....well...it's very hard to put it in a delicate manner. LKY and LHL did well, but only to a certain extent and the doubts are always around. They still are.

🌹A lot of unhappy things happened in Singapore in just a month alone and hopefully no greater ills come tumbling out in the future for the country sake. This latest scandal have took up many people attention. But try to understand that this is an infidelity scandal. The last outrage that shook the nation is a minister involved in a corruption case. That is much more worrisome and important for the citizens to bear in mind what is happening to their beloved country. You all need to focus on the real issues to stem and stop the rot from eating away at the foundation of this small fragile country. It is your duty because this place is your home. If you don't protect it no one else will.
