These Workhorse A/C can develop a problem that I’d never seen in automobiles. Apparently because the condenser coil sets so low in the system it can collect oil over time reducing its effectiveness. The cure is to flush the system and recharge. Worked wonders for my A/C. I had replace the compressor due to a bad clutch. The pressures would climb out of sight after the system got hot. Seemed impossible to get the correct amount of Freon. I replaced the thermal expansion valve (much more involved in my Pace Arrow then in Kevin’s MH) and dryer. Symptoms remained unchanged. A friend put me on to the plugged condenser and the cure.

I used this video to help. It ended up being the high pressure switch was bad on mine. Replaced and ice cold air. I had to pull the vacuum and charge. I keep that same o-ring kit in the motorhome. Thanks for the help!

Another good vid Kevin . You’re playing in my field and well done . Maybe remind viewers that the rx valve will modulate, depending on coil temp and suction temperature. If it’s hot , mine runs 45 wide open but when coil and ambient ( entering) temperature cools, valve will close down to 35 lbs with cold suction line . Could hear that Cardinal looking over your shoulder 😂👍. Good meet n Kissimmee 👍

I extremely appreciate all the work you do especially on the W24 as I believe that’s what you also own. So my question is on my 2005 adventure W24 on AC do you have a difference between Max and high as far as your blower goes, it works on both but there’s no change in fan velocity, thanks Craig
@ktoutdoor

Correct no change in speed when you go from regular AC that pulls in the air from the outside to Max AC that recirculates the cabin air this will give you better cooling.

Kevin great video. And thanks for all you do. I have purchased a set of gages. My 2004 w22 has a quick connect with a female tread on the low side and just a female thread on the high side. I am wondering if you know the thread size so I can buy an adapter to connect my gages

Ps My liquid line drier has a sight glass . After I run for a while , my glass clears indicating a full charge ( liquid) to the TX valve . Tx valves require a solid stream of liquid to work properly. Just like a gas carburetor.

Great video. I still need to add r-134 in my system since I changed out my compressor. I haven't had time time to buy the vacuum tools to do it correctly. I'm wondering if I could just add r-134 to the system without vacuuming the system. How many bottles does it need to achieve 34psi.

No have have to pull a vacuum your system is full of air all ready... the term is called Non-condensables look on plastic case should show you how much, ours takes 32 oz

Where did you find the high side port I never did find the high side port on my W22I use the low side port after putting a new compressor on and filled app check the gauge according to temperature but your pressure was good got cold air walked away

High side fitting should be in front of compressor but behind rubber flap thats mounted to firewall.

I've been told by a few mechanics that the manufacturer placed the AC radiator in a poor location on the W22 chassis' which is why my AC is only blowing slightly cool air. How did you diagnosis the TXV valve? I would LOVE to fix this problem.
@ktoutdoor
@ktoutdoor Жыл бұрын
Going by memory I think the high side was to high and the low side to low. Based on its age its a very good possibility that the TXV on yours is also stuck
