Great ukemi tutorial. Thank you. The students are so lucky to have such a beautiful dojo and a wonderful sensei !

The falling exercises alone will get you fit.The effortless way you are doing it ,is proof how fit you and your pupils are. Maybe all gyms and fighting arts should include these exercises.I am aware of comments that aikido is not practical martial art,but for me as viewer it is still beautifull,flowing art.I think the health benefit is far more practical than the actual self defence.

Totally agree. I've always wanted to study Aikido, and 50% of my motivation is the ukemi (10-20% might be the hakama and keikogi haha). That being said, this is still some of the best Aikido ukemi I've seen.

This is without question one of the finest, if not THE finest, examples of ukemi that I have ever seen. Dobroka Sensei is a fine technician of Aikido , one of the best, for sure. I wonder if he is at the level of Tohei Sensei in his mastery of "ki", or anyone in the martial arts world who has either experienced, or mastered "ki". I am new to Dobroka Sensei; I have not heard of him before, but so far he has impressed me very much. He is a very good Teacher. Liked and subbed.

@N17C1 Жыл бұрын
Do what you can do. I have two fused vertebrae in my lower back but still manage to roll and break fall. I'm just a little stiffer than most. One of the reasons I keep doing Aikido is to keep as much movement as I have. Sitting around saying 'my back is sore' just means I get good at sitting.

Imagine if they didn't throw themselves nicely...the nage would apply the technique hard and they would either break their tailbone, back, neck, arm, or wrist, dislocate their shoulder, or worse yet they could smack their head on the ground...imagine how someone with no experience would fair in a hard fall... It would be pretty sad! Being able to take falls at this level allows the nage to apply the technique much harder and practice with a lot more intensity without fear of breaking their uke!

@travisjohnson10055 жыл бұрын
@@AstrotominChinaIndeed, I certainly agree with you in a certain context! But I will say that I've sparred with folks who are excellent martial artists who didn't practice aikido, but they wanted to test my strengths and weaknesses (lol which at the time seemed terrifying)...in those situations I forced myself to stay present enough to somehow not get smacked and kicked around too much. The key was that I didn't "try" to apply a technique...cause that wouldn't have worked. I kept moving and waited till the moment presented itself, and then I found myself applying ideal techniques that completely neutralized my opponent (either thru pins that rendered them completely helpless, or with throws that sent them flying). They were impressed...lol and I was relieved! 😌 I'm no master...and dojo scenarios with unicorns, rainbows, and glitter don't really work in real situations, but aikido does in fact work in the right context- with proper application of technique through presence and responsiveness.
I practice Iwama Ryu and these ukemi are very different from ukemi that I used to do. In mae ukemi they put both hands on the mat, with fingers in dangerous situation. In ushiro ukemi, they mime when they are in kokyu ho situation and it’s ridicoulous..... I think that kokyu ho in that manner doesn’t work. It’s my opinion.

what you see from the Aikido that is just the surface, kihon kata with a partner. but the applied technics are quite different much more simple and effective. but the aim of Aikido is not the fight, mainly not on the street. the aim of the Aikido is you learn to use your body and controll your mind (emotions, drive) that you don't do what you think but you do what is needed. Aikido teaches these via fighting technics but not the fight is the aim. every fighting technics are good but it is depends on who does it. ;) I also practice Kyokushin karate and Aikido but I don't think that Kyo would be useful in turn Kyo is on based fight but I say again everything depends on who deos it! ;)

Have you ever had to fight for your life in a war, or ANY form of truly EXTREME violence ? Try AikiBudo, if you can find anyone who still teaches it. You are clearly in need of a much harder Teacher than Dobroka Sensei. In your case, based upon the supremely ignorant statement that you have just made in a public forum, like the Internet, I can see that only LIFE can teach someone like you. Good luck. I agree, but somebody that does aikido it’s something about the feeling about falling I don’t know or some people at the opposite at our dojo. Some people quit because they say they’re too tired of getting off the ground but like all things in life, you have to get up when you fall down you might as well enjoy it.
