@@MisaHalit yes it was an amazing experience. It depends on where you go as to what you will be spending your day doing. I stayed at a huge property where the owners just had a little hobby farm and Garden. They were both professionals who worked from home so they had people for cleaning out the horse stalls and the chicken coops (she also trained horses ) I spent my working hours gardening as well and painting. And eating the most delicious vegetarian/vegan diet. I hope you get around to it. It's an unforgettable experience. I have a friend who stayed at a vineyard in Italy and helped with the process of making and packaging the wine. There are some great places to stay out there!

Joan Wamahiga hey girlie !! I did tons of google reach, and I came across a few teaching positions with Disney. I applied and the rest is history lol. I suggest if teaching is something you want to do, do your research !! My company literally paid for everything even my flight to China, the only thing I had to pay for was stuff on my end I.e work visa, passport (if you don’t already have one), background check etc. However, the best part is my company reimbursed me for the things I had to pay for.

I'm a certified teacher from California and work in the city you showed for China! 😆 What are the odds? But yes I highly recommend working at International Schools! I wish more teachers in the states realized they could do this! Often better pay in comparison to the cost of living and many things are covered. I get free meals, housing allowance and a decent salary. Plus being in Asia, it's so cheap to travel around. Loved this video!

Special Education is still developing overseas but I'm sure there are opportunities. Check out (Dave's ESL) website. They have many positions and countries that are looking for people. Consider being an English teacher to get your foot in the door and then networking and navigating the market when you arrive in your preferred country. Good Luck on your journey!

Wow!. Thank you for the compliments. That really made our day. Before working abroad we also though it was unrealistic or difficult to find a job. However after living and working abroad for almost 10 years we've found that there are tons of positions abroad. And in almost every discipline. And companies are always hiring because people come and go or continue to travel. We don't say which company we work for but I can tell you that our company has a lot of vacancies in Japan and Italy. Our company just doesn't get a lot of applicants; mainly because they don't do a good job of adverting the jobs. Its that simple. Another factor is applicants don't look abroad. Most people don't realize all the great benefits. There are also a lot of people that are afraid to make the big move. We were very much like you when we moved abroad. We were recent grads. We didn't even have much work experience but we were enthusiastic and open minded. So we started looking and applying and before long we were both working in Spain. After getting our first job abroad we found getting other jobs abroad was easier. The most amazing thing about our journey is that our family joined us in Japan. Amon's father retired here and lives in the same neighborhood. Amon's brother also moved here and works for one of the companies mentioned. And other friends have made the big move. We have friends that started looking abroad and are now working in Singapore, Italy, Korea, etc. Who knows...maybe your parents will join you when you start your life abroad. Please check back and let us know how your search goes. And always feel free to ask questions.

I really didn't expect such an extensive, thoughtful message - this made my day too. :) It's so exciting for me to hear about your successful transition to working abroad. The journey you're describing very much mirrors how I dream of my life progressing. I just got out of college this past May with a double major in Creative Writing and Film Studies. Perhaps my "artistic" disposition is what has always drawn me towards travel; my biggest priority in life is connecting with others in a meaningful way. I aspire to form bonds with people from all over the world, establish a broadened perspective, and then share written work about my experience. Sounds dramatic, but I truly believe stories can bring people together! Anyways, this brings me to present day - I have been set on moving abroad as a post-college push towards independence. I have professional/academic experience in writing and film, but since it's so difficult to find entry level jobs in these disciplines, I'm looking into being an au pair in Spain for 3 months as a "first step," while writing freelance for supplemental income. I found some family arrangements where I'll have only 20 hours of work/week, and I think this will allow me time to continue developing my writing and searching for more full-time jobs. But given how "nonprofessional" the au pair position sounds, my parents are skeptical. My mom is a bit of a controlling personality and is pushing for me to take graduate classes or find a job in NY instead (I also think she wants me close to home). This isn't what I want at all. In my head, I picture myself developing a life for myself abroad, or even living there for a few months, coming home again for some time, and then returning - I picture myself gradually achieving enough success to make my parents proud and maybe even buy them a ticket to come visit. But it's such a tough sell right now. I know this is a lengthy message, and I can't expect you to be my life coach, but I given your experience and years of wisdom, I was wondering if you had any advice on how to handle my situation? Do you think I'm being unpractical with my goals? Is there a better alternative? I'm quite stuck at the moment, and would love any guidance. Thanks for your lovely videos. We think many people can relate to your situation. This may sound random but maybe you should journal your thoughts or develop a blog. You're an excellent writer, with a very fascinating story. We would follow your blog! Personally we've also found writing to be very therapeutic and helpful in setting our goals or exploring our thoughts. If you go to Spain document your adventures abroad and your life as an au pair, writer, filmmaker, creator, daughter, expat, etc. In a way you'd be building your resume/portfolio by taking what you've learned in college and creating something (blog, youtube channel, book, documentary, etc). We cant say definitively what you should do, but we'd say do what makes you happy. We hope that makes sense.

I have a daughter named Lili too ( Short for Liliana ) You seem to be as adventurous as she is...She is an excellent singer and songwriter...But she just joined the Air Force... ( She is my only daughter, the baby of three kids ) I always thought she would just sing...She's been singing nonstop since she was a baby... She surprised me with the Military thing...I'm not new to it...My Stepfather was an Army Drill Sergeant...She is at bootcamp now... I thought I would tell you this because...I think you are a very intelligent and articulate young lady...Just like my Lili and when you say the things you say...Especially the part about your parents...It reminds me of me and the convos my daughter and I had...They love you very much and want to protect you as I do my Lili...But I also know that we as parents have to allow our kids to fly... I say do what you feel deep down in your heart...That will make you happy. Be still and quiet ( meditate ) and listen to what your soul tells you...Do lots of research...I mean lots...Read what others have to say about any company you are dealing with and believe those that have had bad experiences when they say they have...Find a safe program and if you choose...Wet your feet by trying it out...Do Not commit to anything long term and make sure that you have a way to get back home if you must...Find out what the laws are in the countries you are considering and what if any help you will get from the US Embassy or other Govt agency should you need it. By all means Do Not keep your parents and family in the dark. Share what you find with them and explain to them why you want to do it...For how long and all the details...I think if you can connect with other people that have done this...Especially solo females...You parents may feel a little better...The fear is something bad happening to you...This I can assure you and so many other things that can go wrong and your parents not being able to get to you or help you. Foreign countries are very different and do things way differently than the US. I don't think there is going to be much you can tell your parents...They will have to do their own research...As I did with my daughter and come around on their own and accept what they choose too. Remember it's okay if they don't agree with everything...Your job is not to try to convince them...Your job is to find a program that is safe and works for you. They will come around...As you grow and mature into the woman you choose to be...Sorry so long and Good luck...God bless you...Wherever you may go. Not easy to be from Algeria. If you can swing it, I'd recommend studying somewhere like France and just keep going until you make it happen. You don't need very much money as a student in France and the government will help you once you are a resident. Once you are qualified in a useful field, you can leave France if you want. Just a thought.

I’m a licensed teacher in China and have been here for 5 years total. I used Teach Away to get several legit jobs-which I mention because going through local agents can be sketchy! Anyhow, I am so thrilled that you mentioned China. Many mention teaching in the Middle East, and I did, but the cost of living is so much higher that even with housing paid for, it’s a wash. China’s incredible and cheap public transportation makes living here car free so easy! I love knowing that I can provide a pleasant life for myself while saving towards early retirement, which was impossible when teaching while indebted in Florida. My debt will be gone soon and I will be well on my way!

My concern is that I've been unemployed since 2014, freelancing here and there on small IT projects (building Access apps), but nothing fancy. I have an international professional background (finance, project management), having worked in France, Switzerland, Cameroon, in very diverse roles and was helping my fiancé on his company, mainly on administrative tasks. Do you think that that 5 year gap would be a problem to get hired? I am 37, bilingual french/english and hold a french citizenship. I would really appreciate your advice and thank you very much. Btw, I love Japan, never been there but I took a few japanese classes when I was in college in France. Hope you're enjoying it there.

Ski Resorts are great! Prob best younger people like in their 20s. but you get cheap staff accommodation hooked up for you and you get a free ski/bike pass. Canada, States, Australia, Japan, ect.

Finally some digital nomad advice that follows the rules. Most so called digital nomad advocates on KZbin recommend finding any remote job in the US and just working abroad with it, which is absolutely not allowed due to the tax liabilities it creates for the employer. I like that you guys recommend the correct approach of an actual physical international assignment transfer to the foreign office. That is the correct way to do it. Either that or setting up your own LLC and taking C2C contracts. Automatically you have more credibility than 99% of people on KZbin giving bad or incorrect digital nomad advice.

Great video. I have put this idea on the back burner for 2018, while I get rid of debt and increase skills. Hopefully in 2019/2020, I can pick up again. We want to live in Bali, or stay for longer periods of time.

They love it there.There are also people that work from Bali because they've been able to find jobs that allow them to work virtually or they've created an online business. Great ideas! When I think of working overseas I think of large corporations and teaching English, but the government organisations are an interesting idea. We were seriously considering moving overseas to work years ago and then the GFC hit and you needed a EU passport to be considered. Maybe one day if we rejoin the workforce we'll look into working overseas. Seems like a great way to live :)

Great video! I was wondering if you had any advice for me? I am 20 years old and I want to fly from the nest early whilst I'm young; however, I'm worried to do so as I already work a good job that provides a pension scheme and I fear that I may be too inexperienced to start from scratch somewhere new. Would you recommend I wait a few years, or just go for it?

We were in a very similar situation when we first went abroad. We took the leap but we left our stateside employers on good terms. We shared our reasons for wanting to try something new abroad and they were supportive and told us if we ever wanted to comeback we could. That made the decision easier. Once we were abroad we found that more opportunities opened up. The experience we gained was also greater; which made us more valuable to employers. Everyone's situation is different and complex so its hard to say what you should do. But consider all the pros and cons and devise a plan A, B and C. Our Plan B was to return to our employers. Thankfully we didn't have to but if we did at least we would have tried living abroad. Something else that is nice about being young is your life is less complex. You also have time to try new things. The pension is great but for many it keeps them at jobs that don's allow them to reach their full potential. Have you heard of the "Golden Handcuffs"? And sometime the longer with you're with a company the harder it is to leave because the benefits you're giving up seem to great. Hope that helps. Whatever you decide please come back and share. I am interested in finding a job aboard in the Philippines, or near the Philippines. I am an inventory specialist at my current job. I also do sales orders, purchase orders, work orders. Corridor is the data entry we use. And a part of my job is using Crystal Reports to pull reports for the company. Do you have any ideal of where I might find something in that area? You should look in Japan for a positon. Many of our friends visit the Philippines from here. Its a quick flight. Check our USAjobs or a contractor like lockhead martin or Alutiq. Good luck!

Thank you for the question. Most jobs we've interviewed for abroad have been via phone or skype. So no need to be in the US. We interviewed for our Japan job while in Spain :-)

Traveling here is much easier and so many options and super cheap compared to back home! One thing I’ve wondered though, do most of these follow mainly European laws of work or American standards (such as pay, holidays...paid holidays and such?) either way it’s sounding better and better out here with health insurance and all!
