I don’t understand how this interview series hasn’t blown up. This is my third (in two days), and loving them. I’ve never even played a Mantic game, but getting excited to do so! Keep up this level of great content, and you’re sure to grow as a channel. The algorithm is serving me your videos on my homepage so maybe it’s already happening!

Nice interview, I've been recently becoming more disenchanted by GW over the past year or two and have picked up Kings of War and I like it very much. My biggest problem with it is that I'm finding it hard to love, hard to love the lore, hard to love the factions, very hard to love the models particularly considering how many nice 3d stls are available these days for my 3d printer and the industry is moving quickly in that regard but easy to love the system. Normally I am a big advocate for strongly themed games but I love KoW mechanically enough I actually wish it was a but more easy to do what you want with it and it wasn't stuck to their themes and storylines. He's an interesting guy and obviously a talent game designer and I'm keeping my ear down to hear what he's doing and the direction he takes it

Finally got around to catching up on this interview. Its always a pleasure to dive deep into the intricate mind of Ronnie and the Mantic games origins, present and future direction. Without his vision and product (kings of war primarily) not only would our channel not exist, but I'm not sure most of the worlds Kings of War players would be playing a rank and flank game. Thanks Ronnie and Blackjack Legacy for the interview! 10/10 will give it a share

He forgot to mention the KoW RPG kickstarter. Oh, that’s because we all lost our money while Mantic got their Hellboy RPG from the same developer.

I love Mantic Games, I actually just did a video on that last night on my channel. Ronnie is a great figurehead for his company and they are keeping the gaming real. Hoping that Walking Dead gets a resurgence with talks with the company, and also hoping that Warpath gets a new life in small scale. Great interview!

Odd to hear someone saying big companies can’t really do licences when Asmodee/FFG/AMG have had such long running success with the Star Wars and now Marvel licences.
@BlackJackLegacy

I think he meant back in the day GW would have a year of big profits off the back of the launch of LotR and then a bad few years until something new released and when you’re a PLC you need each year to be better than the last for shareholders. As he said smaller nimble companies could have a great year followed by a solid year and not fall over. Since then things have changed. The releases come out much faster than they used to, geek culture is more mainstream and whilst it wasn’t right for GW back then it doesn’t mean it’s not right now.

That’s a strange attitude. Are you saying that you would never buy any game from them, no matter how good it was, just because it had been made by Mantic? What has led you to boycott them? Are there other games companies you feel similarly about?
@SuperDuperHappyTime
@SuperDuperHappyTime 2 жыл бұрын
@@peterdickinson4599 I have imposed a rule upon myself that I will only buy models for games I am truly into (AoS), can certainly get a game in (40K) or it fits a quick project I have in mind. It’s not about not wanting to learn a new game, it’s that at the current moment I don’t have the time to learn a new game and play the games I want. I have bought Mantic Zombies and Ghouls in the past when there was a need for a ton of bodies, and would probably use them again to fit that niche if I need to ever again.
