I use the Space Mouse Enterprise which is the fancy one with the screen but find I don’t use the screen that much. The Space Mouse Pro would perform just as well, still have the wrist rest, and comes in about $100 cheaper. The small ones are cheaper still but I can’t comment on comfort during full day use as I’ve not used the small ones for an extended period.

For years I used the old V9 MasterCam that was menu driven with single hotkeys for the current menu, and I could really fly through that. The Icon driven and "Alt_" this or that is definitely more cumbersome.

I agree. For years I memorized nearly all the hotkeys in MC and flew through MasterCAM. I moved to another company and the engineers all had 3dmouse. So I asked if they can buy me one and they said ok! Well now I can't live with out it after my first week of hating it and thinking it was a waste. Once I went without having it when I was working remotely through this pandemic I was like... I need to go back to work and get my 3d mouse! Lol

I even pack my 3D mouse if I'm travelling for work! I'll make do with less just to have 3D mouse available lol.

I use the Mx Master 2s mouse from logitech. I've assigned all my view orientations to the assignable 'moves' on the mouse. In the logitech app, you can set the same buttons or 'moves' to different things in individual applications. Also, you can free wheel the scroll wheel and the zoom is less annoying. So much less that I no longer am considering a space mouse. As for keyboard shortcuts, yes they would be handy, but I barely ever look at the screen when I'm selecting toolpaths. Here's a video idea... Spec out a bunch (2-3, maybe 4?) of different pc configs that will absolutely rip through toolpath crunching. Specifically the old 3d path options. I currently have an Intel i9-9900k OC'd to 5.0 GHz, 32 GB RAM, 8 GB Nvidia Quadro P4000 and a Samsung 970 pro SSD and 3d paths still take quite a bit of time to calculate. By the way, I like your videos. They are helpful. Thank you!

I could do a video that compares different computer builds, I'd be limited to co-workers computers...nothing crazy high end like you have with the i9 though. I'm really wanted to test the new AMD chips and my personal rig is due for an upgrade so....🙂 Re:spacemouse You have to try one. Give it a week, you'll be lost without it! Thanks for the feedback, lots more to come!

@@CamInstructor That would still be interesting. Do you have issues with mastercam crashing? Mine will crash once a day usually. I have tried one. I use my keyboard too much to justify it. They are a nice fancy tool to have though.

@@milje2010 I don't have crashing issues. If you are able to reproduce the crashing send it to CNC Software so they can get on a fix.

How can I have a simultaneous rotation whit the space mouse ? I’ve been using it for a while but in mastercam I can’t do zoom, rotate it or move it simultaneously, is the pro one need it for it ?
@CamInstructor2 жыл бұрын
They all work the same, they should all be able to fully manipulate the model in Mastercam..mine does. Make sure your have the latest driver for it and that your Windows is up to date.

The problem was the driver, thanks 👍🏻

I got the cheapest version mouse from a work buddy. I tried in fusion 360 at a very starter level and i can say just why haven't i got it before.

Mastercam needs more default keyboard shortcuts... Frankly, it's kind of absurd how left-click dependent mastercam is. No mouse gestures, no on-demand frequently used menu, weak command prompt-ing. Space bar as 'last used command' more often is annoying than useful. Trying to go fast as autocad/solidworks just doesn't seem like it's do-able in mastercam.
