I applied for my kennitala myself and I found it really straight forward and I believe it was free of charge also
@LoppyLoves2 ай бұрын
@jancolson7610 interesting, how long ago was this? And did you apply for it through a bank or another way?
@jancolson76102 ай бұрын
I did it through Registers Iceland (Skra) directly. It was in 2021 though, so may have been a apecial arrangement for during the pandemic?

Hi . Thanks for your good video . I'm a truck driver . I'm 35 and single . How can I immigrate to Iceland ? Please help me. Thanks
@LoppyLoves2 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching! If you have an EU passport it will be easier to move to Iceland. If not then it will be much more difficult. If you'd like to continue working as a truck driver here then you'd need to check if you're driving licence would be valid in Iceland, as immigrants from some countries have to retake their driving test here

What is your current job in the factory? Do you still like it?
@LoppyLoves Жыл бұрын
I am just a factory floor worker. I keep an eye on the machines and make sure everything is running okay, and call for help if something goes wrong. It's not the worst job I've ever done but I'm ready for a change 😊

@@LoppyLoves doesn't sound too bad but I can understand that after some time you'd like a change.

How do you find Iceland? I visited once, it was such a nice place, but I found myself to feel quite alone after a couple days,
@LoppyLoves Жыл бұрын
I really enjoy it here but at times it can feel a bit isolated. It took me a while to build up a group of friends here, but I like living here a lot more than living in the UK 😊

Will the union help if you don't have a written contract?
@LoppyLoves Жыл бұрын
That is a very good question and I'm actually not sure! I believe that they should still be able to provide some help, but I could be wrong

@@LoppyLoves I was wondering if you don't have a contract, worked for - say - 2 months and they don't pay you what do you do?
@LoppyLoves Жыл бұрын
Now that I am thinking about it I actually didn't have a contract for the job that didn't pay me, the union still got my money for me 😊 They used my wage slips as proof that i was working there

@@LoppyLoves that makes sense. I am glad they were able to help you!

Do the unions help foreign workers with bad working conditions as you described?
@LoppyLoves Жыл бұрын
I believe the union can inform the workplace that improvements need to be made, they can also arrange legal employee strikes. One of the unions arranged a strike here a few weeks ago

Hi there, Are there jobs for Nurses from Africa who speak only English,but willing to learn the Icelandic language?
@LoppyLoves3 ай бұрын
Hi, unfortunately I'm not sure as it isn't my field but I have heard that it's difficult for foreign nurses to find jobs here and I think Icelandic is a requirement. I believe there are actually Icelandic courses tailored especially for medical professionals here though 🙂 good luck!

I have heard a lot about Iceland. It is a very beautiful country. I live in Pakistan. My job is also Maigri. I also go to the river to catch fish. I have seen your video. I can get a fishing job in the country. If I can get a job, please tell me the company where I can apply. Thank you very much

Using the term using "third country" might quite offensive to some of your followers. The world is a global village now, you people should stop discriminating.
@LoppyLoves3 ай бұрын
Third country is the official term used here for countries outside of the EU/EEA. It is even used on the Iceland government website: www.government.is/topics/foreign-affairs/visa-to-iceland/ It is written in the 'bilateral agreements' section and there is a table of 'third countries'. I do not mean 'third world' country if that's what you thought the implication was.

@@LoppyLoves thanks for the explanation 👍

dont be a snowflake, understand the term first. also I don't care if someone calls my country a third-world country, because IT IS a third-world country.
