I drove a Super Dexta at the age of 13 across many many fields learnt how to plough but I still recall the mountains around me the smell the feeling of freedom !! Those were the days I look at the young today and what have they ??? They have everything but sadly they have nothing The world needs to change does it not ??

Modern machines cover the ground so quickly today that even fewer people experience what you are taking about. Modern machines also remove you from much of what is happening around you. That can be great on long days but yes I think we are all missing out on something. Thanks for the comment. Mike

Self-sufficiency farming has given way to a reliance on supermarkets, the weekly shop, and imports which is all very well until the horrors of war reemerge and our reliance on inputs we no longer produce ourselves makes one feel naked.

Sorry it has taken a while. I went to my dads today and took some photos. It looks quite simple and I am sure you could make one easily and use the chain to get the length right. If you send me an email address I will forward you the photos. Mike

I’ve the same size land as yours in this video! Do you recommend I should buy a tractor? It’s my dream come true and I’m saving up every cent for it
@jstringerandsonsfarming Жыл бұрын
Hi Beka I think it would be great to have a tractor if it makes life easier and you enjoy it but they are very expensive. I think my father is very lucky to have been able to build up his collection and have time to use them. We have really enjoyed using his machines and I have been impressed by how much he can produce with them so it can be productive and enjoyable. Some of the older machines are really good. When you look at some of the new small equipment I am not sure it is made to last. Hope it works for you.

Is that a Fordson
@jstringerandsonsfarming2 жыл бұрын
Yes it is a Fordson Dexter. The farm did own it then we gave it to the local cricket club then we bought it back a few years ago. So we have bought it twice and given it away once so far.

In the 60s we had twins on the MF35 for harrowing in Germany. thr MF (1962) is still on the farm but only for driving the big manure pump. for working in the fields we use John Deere.

I’ve a question. I’m dreaming about tractors all my life and now at the age of 28 years old guy I’m working my ass off in construction to save up and buy a compact tractor. I have approximately the same size field as you on the beginning of the video. Is it worth paying €6000 for just pure hobby and pleasure and maybe planting some corn or potatoes?
@jstringerandsonsfarming2 жыл бұрын
Well if you have some land grow some food you can do that without machines. If you have machines that make life easier use them but food comes first.

I don’t really know it definitely makes them knock for a second or two but if they won’t start and you need them it’s only a second or two and less wear on the starter I suppose.
@rodneysweetnam86532 жыл бұрын
Hi Mike - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. The MF 35 & 135 are the definitive tractors for use in the West of Ireland and are particularly ideal for working on the bog. Turf trailers called land drives are made using a tractor back end, the wheels of which are driven by the tractor PTO making the entire outfit a 4 wheel drive.

Thank you I’d like to see a picture. They are great tractors.
