Working on the Pest Control bush trail I recently cleared.
All rodents in New Zealand are introduced. They have had a devastating effect on our native forests and animal life.
I talk about the particular kind of poison used in this area to control the rodent numbers. The reduced rodent population gives our native creatures and forests a rest from their ravaging and time to regenerate.
Thanks very much for watching. Please like and sub for more vids.
Dave

Lucky you! No problem with the knees and other parts yet. I spent most of my life in the native too for EF NZFS. Sure, wish my joints were still workable, places out here on the W.Coast needs that treatment. Thanks, mate, for showing nice to see the bush again as it is. Cheers.

I know what you mean about the joints lol. I also take it easier than I used to. By slowing down and reducing my travel distance, I can still get out in the rough stuff. Thanks for watching and sharing your knowledge Richard

I subscribed to your interesting channel. Thank you for the content. I live in Finland. Yesterday, after looking at your review of the hat, I ordered myself a Riverina hat. Can you tell me please what boots you wear in such hot and humid weather?

Thanks for viewing and subscribing Rus. The Riverina should do you well mate, they are tough as nails. My boots are awesome, I am very pleased with their performance. They are made by Red Wing, USA. They are Irish Setter Trailblazers 878. I have been wearing them for a couple years and no problems. They are heavier construction than modern boots but have good ankle support, are not hot in summer, can handle any terrain I choose. Hope this helps. Thanks Rus

Thanks for doing this Dave, (such a good name 😊) I’ve done the same in Pirongia but we leave the bait in small bags in those traps. We should do a video together next year?

Sorry for the late reply Dave. I actually replied a couple of weeks ago but I have just seen it did not go through. A meet up for a camp sounds good bro.

What do you do with the dead bodies?
@southernlandsolo7839
@southernlandsolo7839 Жыл бұрын
Good question. I have only seen one dead rodent in the years I have been baiting this area. That rodent was possibly killed by a local cat. The rodents eat our bait, sometimes visiting the bait station a number of times, get sick over a period of time and tend to die in their nests. The bait acts slowly, sometimes over a period of a couple of weeks. This stops the animal associating getting sick with eating the poison.
