working on a building system that's better than just placing cubes lol

I wanted to start building structures for terrain generation but I realized that it would be really slow to just place cubes so I added the ability to resize the selection box.
More shapes will probably come later too so that it's easier to make stuff that doesn't look super blocky.

Really nice. I think adding copy/paste would be a huge time saver as well. You'd just build a complex item once and then you can repeat it wherever. Bonus point if you can then rotate the model :)

True! I actually had a copy/paste system in an older version of the game before I started working on giving it tiny blocks. It used a world edit style tool so I might merge that in with the new building system by making it so that you can save areas as templates that you can place down in other spots

U could put a selection mode and a function that extrude the bloks in one direction with a projection of where they would be placed until u press a button

I could try doing that! I'm going to be adding a "snap to face" option so I could also add another option for "match shape" that would copy the shape of the face that you're placing the blocks on

this reminds me of chisels and bits mod maybe have the resource count in voxels? that might be interesting

That's actually sort of how I like to think about my voxel system lol I have "big blocks" that can split into "small blocks". Also yeah the resource count will probably be in the block. You'll be able to pick up fractions of a block so instead of it displaying 5 blocks you might see 5 + 8/512 blocks or something like that since one big block is 8x8x8 small blocks
