I have a 790 plus that I bought two years ago for $10K and that was the top of anything I would pay. I love it but it definitely is my retirement machine. Last year the new 790 pro came out for $15K and now the 990 for $23K. Bernina is absolutely pricing themselves out of the market. There cannot be that many improvements to warrant the price increase. Just wow! Have not seen too many sold on FB posts from my Bernina store. Half of them were sold to employees who I assume got a substantial discount. Mary should look for a used 790. Still fairly new and I know people traded their plus in for their pro.

I agree with the 790 plus. The gain from a 440 to the 790 plus is a big jump and will be worth it. Mary needs to go a local Bernina dealer and try out the machines. Doesn't cost anything to try out. Watch out for the sales.

I own the Babylock Destiny 2 and quilt in the 9.5" X 14" Dime Snap Monster Magnetic Hoop which is much easier to hoop than the normal hoops that come with an embroidery machine. So easy, fast, and fun! I love it!

One of my classmates had a Lightning at our 50 year reunion. I was the one in love with it…not my husband who was also a FORD fan. But loved his F150… Which was plain, but beautiful.

I love your videos! I have my grandma’s vintage machine but haven’t had time to analyze, etc. yet. Now I wish had time to! I now want to make red & purple quilt because your shirt looks amazing next to Ruby! Thank you for sharing. I learned about you from Tiffany & you lead me to Ian. If I thumbs down you, I will tell you now it was an accident. Always love your content.

Could you do 2 pieces at once? Like while you have to wait for it under the clapper? If something gets complex, I think about it while I do something else. Solve the problems in my head. Procrastinating is good when it stops me cooking and eating too much, but for quilting it just stops us enjoying the finished quilt tops. Does it really matter how long it takes? Does it though? It's only gonna take longer, the more we agonise over it. It'll take as long as it takes anyway? Do you still love the look. Then just start again. Maybe do bits between bigger tops, or after you get that, "wow, i did that" satisfaction, that wonder from finishing something else you wanted to do. Like when we do smaller projects cause we don't want to start on something big again right away. Yeah, is it too much for now? Put it all away in the same box, and learn what you need to, then you shouldn't need to get too close to Jack the seam ripper. Yes write down what the problem is, so you don't have to nut it out later. That is the plan, you can get there. 29,000 is an average inheritance, maybe a cheap car, will you still be able to afford to retire later. Old age places are not cheap, nor old age diseases and medication. We never need less savings for emergencies. Then there is the modern manufacturers, who factor in machines breaking down, so you will need a new one sooner, more money for them. Did you ever see Thoroughly Modern Millie? Julie Andrews couldn't get her beads to hang straight, Mary Tyler Moore could. There are always differences in us, it makes life "fun"?

Hi! Newbie here! Becca what projects do you find yourself using the starch pen for? Small blocks and I see FPP, what else? I just purchased one. Also new subscriber here! I need to maybe go back to your original or first videos to learn more about you and your channel.
@SuseMck9942 ай бұрын
They are great for any seams that are getting bulky - and that can be anything from FPP with lots of seams crossing, to pinwheel type blocks where you have multiple seams (more than 2) coming to the same point. I don't use mine for every seam, but if after I've pressed a seam, there's a bump anywhere along the seam, I bring out the pen and the clapper. Clapper makes a big difference too.

@@SanddollarStitcher I sew mainly with batiks mostly because they press better and they don't ravel much. So, I use my pressing pen mainly on regular cottons because they don't lay very flat for me. Also, I fill it with Best Press, have never used the stuff Acorn sells. So, I have no idea if it works any better or not.

Every machine sooner or later needs service. It should get regular service so it will last a lot longer.
