I used to think very chatty people had an easy time making friends. I don’t have that gift at all and always had a hard time making friends but the older I get the less I care. I do have a few great friends but like you they are scattered across the country.

I once had someone in that role or a similar one ask for a wine during service. And I was like, "so a cranberry juice?" And she goes "no I was hoping for a wine." And I looked her in the eye and was like "SO. A. CRANBERRY. JUICE?" And then her eyes lit up and she was like "OH YEAH" 😂

OMG 😆 I just realized I am a year older than you. Hermits, that’s what we can often be? I like my own company and I am sure you feel the same. Yes, spending so much time alone is challenging and I understand how you feel lonely from time to time. At our age we are more discerning about people and we are picky! I was raised as an only child in the country...hated it. My mother worked and my father's work had him commuting to LA on Sunday nights and returning on Friday nights. This was many years ago when things were different and safer so I was a "latch key" kid before they even existed. Your video reminded me of the year that I got off the school bus on my birthday to walk into the house to find a birthday cake on the kitchen table...I had my birthday to celebrate alone. So here I am many years later. Being raised alone does impact us as I made it through Covid probably better than most having been so used to being alone. Like you, I have friends but they live out of the area and they have their own families. So we have our cats or dogs and they are our family...such is life but we'll be fine. Hope you had a relaxing birthday and hope you have many more birthdays to celebrate!! Hugs to Buddy and Elenor!! Stay safe!!

Working on your birthday is a mixed bag for me. I spent the majority of my work career working for the County of San Diego. One of the perks was that we received an eight hour birthday credit every year, which was nice! I'll be 59 on June 10.

Friends/no friends, lonely/love being alone , perfectly content/sometimes sad…….I get it…..Ditto. ❤. Ps-no sutures, but I feel the left over holes (scar tissue?j and dull ache from my chest tubes when I lay on my left side too. It’s a strange thing. First a dull ache, which brings reminders of the trauma of not being able to breathe and then…..simple gratitude to be capable of laying on that side, able to sleep rest and breathe. Such a strange cascade of feelings triggered by simply rolling over. ❤

Hi Steven…remember that truck driver guy that gave you his number a few mo the back?… he would’ve been perfect in the sense that you were far away enough to still have your “alone” time and still have someone special..just saying’. You did the right thing of informing her of the proper protocol before speaking with the Captain and/or FO. Once again here we go with kids with guns (so sad)!,, now me being a Drag Queen also who lives in South Florida you can if you can imagine what’s coming our way soon…Ugh In “my” opinion regardless of them (Flight Crew) having a bad day in them not being able to commute home in a timely fashion and to make you feel a certain way is not cool…, but it’s good that you shrugged it off, I know a few senior mamas that would’ve said a few things. (I guess this could be a new question if you ever did Q & A time again: (1).Are the Captains and/or FO nice? (2). How do you pack your luggage/rollerboard when you’re on your layovers (especially with fragile purchases), do you bring less to work in order to fit these items or do you bring an empty extra piece of luggage other than your rollerboard and lunch box? 3 STRIKES..You’re Out regarding the restaurant..LMAO…eating your food at the hotel it is. I’m sitting here LOL when you describe this young man and he seems like a mirror image of you and how you recognized how you come off to people that just want to be quiet for whatever reason that they might be going through.
