I ended up on a roundabout off the London Orbital yesterday (due to my sat nav taking me on a different route than I thought!) and I was faced with a giant roundabout with three lanes going round it; I remembered your videos, kept calm, kept in the proper lane and was absolutely fine!

Hi Travis, I think that there is so much flexibility offered by the painted arrows on this roundabout that it is almost a hazard e.g. at 2:14 there are actually two "turn left" arrow lanes; the right left turn lane seems to line up with the "go ahead" or middle lane. What does this actually mean? Does it mean that it would have been okay to use the middle lane to go left?

You can use the middle lane but caution is advised if you want to change lanes because cars could be in your bind spots. Plus if you want to change lanes, mirror and signal

Oh yea, that's really bad marking that.... Its a an error for sure, (dosnt need the left only arrow as you enter, why would you not be able to go left from left lane haha) I constantly contact councils about these things.... They ignore most of it sadly.

2:11 This "left turn only" arrow is misleading; any idea why they didn't apply a "left or ahead" arrow?

It would makes perfect sense to have arrows saying left and ahead. The amount of students who fail on this spot.

The roundabout is called Redmoor which leads onto the A5 dual carriageway

2.14, yea that left arrow as you enter just confused, what on earth would you need to know you can go left from left lane. That would drive my ocd up the wall, remove the arrow and nobody is confused. Or keep the previous marking of left and ahead.

Thank you…is it true you save fuel the more you stay in forth and fifth gear? Not having to fill up as much, as just started a new job where a minibus takes me there and back

You do save fuel in the higher gears provided you are not going too fast. Optimum speed to get more miles per gallon is around 57mph in a high gear.
