As an aspiring artist diagnosed with OCD and struggling with constant perfectionism, I am so very grateful for this podcast. It was so comforting to hear Kevin identify the exact feelings I deal with. Thank you so much for taking the time to discuss this topic. I feel very encouraged!

I recognize that this was made a while ago, but I just stumbled upon this and found it incredibly helpful. The fact that you are siblings supporting each other is also so wonderful. Kendyll, I have been a fan of your work for quite some time and appreciate how generous you are with the guidance that you offer. Many thanks for everything.

Thank you so much for this video. Of the two types of perfectionism, I am an overworker. I have a whole bunch of coping strategies to keep it in check, but it becomes especially hard when I have to deal with a novel technique or skill. Perfectionism can be so exhausting. Thank you!!

Very helpful. I never thought of my not finishing projects as being a kind of perfectionism but it totally fits. I am great at starting. Now I will try to find ways to practice finishing, and notice my self talk as I attempt to do so. Thank you both!

The discussion of building those neural pathways from years of practicing negative habits was a bit scary (not sure I will live long enough to overlay those pathways with positives 😬) I love a CBT approach to reversing long-standing habits. Thanks Kevin and Kendyll!

Self-reflection without judgement does miracles, but losing the judgement takes patience and practice and reflection on what might be the things we learnt from childhood/society that don't agree with our true values, then unlearning those things. A lot of what I thought was important to me was not.. it was important to other people or to capitalism.. Now I do my best not to care unless I REALLY care, which lead to losing a lot of self-judgement :) (It's a never ending process though 😜)

I would say that over-editing is a form of avoidance - you can directly avoid a project by not doing it, or you can avoid finishing by constantly reworking. Either way, it comes down to a fear of judgement from ourselves and/or others.

It was informative and his ideas might work but it kind of brought me down listening to it. I think he could work on his tone and framing to make it sound more supportive or inspiring. My fiance and I were excited to listen and we both just felt more drained by the end, like listening to a parent who is supportive but disappointed in you. I normally don't like to comment anything negative, but most of the videos on this channel are so helpful and this one left us both feeling really down.

I didn't feel that at all. He's just soft spoken, which many people are not these days. That is one characteristic of my own counselor that I have always appreciated. He isn't an upbeat life coach...maybe that would be more like what you are looking for.
