The editing order I went with for my first novel was a developmental edit. Annotative edit. Line edit. Copy edit. Proofread. It worked out.

For my previous project, I hired a copy editor through reedsy and she did an excellent job. I'm looking forward to working through a developmental edit of my current project with another reedsy professional this fall.

There are a ton of shady people on Fiverr and most of them aren't worth it. The few that are good though are ridiculously expensive 😬

Fiverr can be a great place for editors who are just starting out to get some experience and build their portfolios, and the lower prices reflect that. Though, if someone is offering ridiculously low prices like $5 per 10K words, then that’s also a red flag. It’s a shame that so many dodgy sellers take advantage and give it a bad name for the rest of us :(

"fact-checking" 😂😂😂 usually a euphemism for making sure that a book doesn't rock the boat.

Fact checking means making sure the information is correct! So say a date is mentioned, checking to ensure that event really did happen on that date.
