the way you added to the project for your dad reminded me of sand (like on a beach) and the way it layered on the project you did reminded me of ocen water or clouds in a very stormy sky thank you for the video I am off to Hobby Lobby tomorrow to see if they have any.

@MeriScrapper13 Thanks! Yes, but it would be a good idea to prime the box with gesso before proceeding with the glass bead gel as the gel won't stick to a slick surface.

@scrappermombecca It's a primer. It preps the page for painting, coloring, etc. :-) It's also used on journaling paper to "strengthen" the page for the amount of painting & gluing that will be done on it.

TRY not putting paint in the gel medium! I tried painting first, THEN putting the glass bead gel on top to dry. AWESOME! Really vibrant reflective values. Either way, fun stuff! BTW Gesso is from latin/italian origin, it originally contained gypsum. The "g" is pronounced like a "j", like in gelato. yum! Happy art-ing!

@mississchic Hi Tasha! No, I wash the foam brish immediately after use. Once its seen its day, I throw it out. lol! If you are using the gesso in the tub, i recommend a brush. The liquid gesso is easier to apply with a foam brush (but that's just me.) Gel medium dries clear and moulding paste doesn't so it's a preference. The glass bead gel has microbeads in them, so the texture is unique to the other mediums.

Note that Glass Bead Gel dries clear and molding paste dries white, thus making adding glass beads textural only and it will not have the reflective opaque quality of glass bead gel. I suggest mixing glass beads with clear texture gel or paste.

Also, I hate to mention this...but it's a "dollop" of paint, not a "wallop" as you said. Wallop is punching someone or something really hard. ;-) Other than these language quibbles, I liked the video and the card you made for your father.
