You're not the first person to say this. We are at the mercy of the KZbin algorithm. But depth of engagement is as important as breath - so we are very pleased you are getting such a lot from the channel. Tell your friends! EO

Thank you very much for one delightful revelation after another. Superb teaching. I have taught 5 children to play song melodies with their guitars. We now want to use harmony to enhance the beauty of the melody. Then I will try to make duets, and to use chords so that two can play. Alan

Some ideas remind me of the Schillinger System. There are many similar tricks there. Great videos! A real find. I even outline each one. I look forward to new ones.

Interesting - I'd completely forgotten about Schillinger. He was really into the maths of music, right? Thanks for bringing him up. I think these tricks are usually just subconscious things that people use when writing: once you have written a lot of music, you reach for them automatically. It's like how we speak our native language without having to think about grammar or how to conjugate the verbs. Thanks for the feedback. We'll. be doing more videos in 2022 EO

i really like #18. i've never thought about shifting an idea's downbeat, so that its combination of strong & weak beats are different than the "parent" timing. by simply shifting the downbeat, it keeps the section continually feeling "swung" or like you said "syncopated"

I have an unresolved question. I took step back from scale and harmony.then started with only intervals. But now i can't understand resolutions only using intervals can you help me out Sir??
@EarOpener
@EarOpener 2 жыл бұрын
OK - that is an interesting question. I don't know what stage you are at with your studies, so it is hard to recommend what to do. Using intervals as the starting point for writing is unusual - it's interesting that some pieces that DO do this (for example some of Debussy's music) has a very different , very interesting angle on resolutions - they sound very different to traditional western Functional Harmony. My advice would be - if you are interested in exploring an interval-based music , go for it, and maybe don't look for traditional resolutions. Maybe you will find something different. On the other hand, If you are trying to make music with traditional chord resolutions, I am not surprised that starting only with intervals is hard - intervals are everywhere in music , but you can easily make brilliant music without really thinking about them. If you are more of a beginner, and struggled with harmony, I'd advise not over-thinking it - just listen for the tension and release in your music, and decide for yourself how you want to resolve things. We made some videos thinking about this : kzbin.info/www/bejne/l6mok3ydo612b7s and. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aZbMeqyupdtoaac. Good luck with your music! EO

@@EarOpener its been 2 three months since I've started playing with interval..and few days back I started with spotify playlist. W.r.t to chord I understood few things. Like melody resolving to 1,5 or the 3 but when i removed harmony from melody. I felt like resolving from 1 to 6 cadence(I mean unsatisfied) so started with CounterPoint as a practice routine..and for ear freshner I took 9 tone scale.. and tried to resolve to 2° interval. And that's when we met
