JT, I watched a handful of your videos, last month, while I was applying for jobs. I graduated college two months ago and had a resume that I thought was pretty strong. After watching your videos, I tossed my old resume and had spent two weeks revising my resume. I prepared myself for phone and face-to-face interviews, and all of the advice you gave have helped me throughout the process. Today, I got hired at a healthcare company and I will be starting my new career at the end of the month. Thank you for your videos and please keep it up! I think having ability to craft a quality resume is very important as it shows written communication and organizational skills. I understand that the volume of applicants can mean having to shorten the list at a glance, but I will say I took a chance by interviewing people in the past who had poorly formatted resumes and they turned out to be wonderful employees.

Great information as usual but I have one objective ☝🏿.... every recruiter for every company is different. Some like tradition clean, some want the skill set listed, and some want a professional Summery. It’s so complicated now a days to satisfy everyone which leaves the employee or potential employee in the dark.
@Workitdaily7 жыл бұрын
I hear you Duran, it can feel complicated. BUT, after working with 1000s of recruiters, here's what we've learned. Even they don't know what they really want. AND YET, our format is working with all of them. The ones that want less data love our format, and the ones that want more tend to call the people using our format because the way it's designed hints to the fact that they will get more info if they call the candidate. you have to "tease" recruiters with your resume.

Your resume is like a sales copy. Headline( interest) keywords, format with a clear call to action.The acronym AIDA is a handy tool for ensuring that your copy, or other writing, grabs attention. The acronym stands for: Attention (or Attract). Interest. Desire. Action. These are the four steps you need to take your audience through if you want them to buy your product or visit your website, or indeed to take on board the messages in your report or resume.

You mentioned 8...I've settled on 6 and I've put them in a bigger font...under my contact info and above the beginning of my work history; Revenue Generation • Consultative Selling • Strategic Planning • Market Share Growth • Relationship Building • Trade Shows...I've also changed the font size from 11 to 12 throughout my resume and then instead of leading each line of job information with the timeframe, I am leading with the job title which is bold in size 14 font....thanks for the tips-I'm hoping this helps :) Is this what you were looking for people to post about?

Great tips for commons mistakes when compiling a resume. We often feel like we have to list every possible thing we have done in order to be called for an interview and then we sit in the interview, unsure of what to say, because we have said it all in the resume and we've not sure what we can add, since we had such a comprehensive resume.
@Workitdaily7 жыл бұрын
Thanks or sharing Fahranaaz. It's true, people often make the mistake of putting everything they've ever done on a resume. To be honest, it is better to 'tease' the recruiter with only enough information to get them to contact you. We have a step-by-step process for doing that inside WorkItDaily.com. Our tutorial explains how to share just enough info to get employers interested. I've seen situations where people put so much info on their resume that when a recruiter sees it, they assume if you don't have that one little thing they need, you must not have it because it's not on the resume. So to be honest, less is more!

I swear I need a personal job coach who can go over my resume with a fine tooth comb, and figure out what jobs I'd be best fit to apply for. I know I need to start at entry level, though at times, I'm overqualified. I'm not out to steal anyone's job, just an opportunity to grow with the company. I like the 5 things the resume needs, and I will have to come up with a good title/headline to describe what I ought to go for.

I know I am 3 years late, but here are my thoughts on my resume. I am better than the average, but I undervalue my own self. I try to be as truthful as possible, however, I do focus on keywords and format. I receive a response rate >50%, and my current job hired me based on my resume (and I know how to handle interviews). I have written a few resumes for co-workers, and now I want to teach others, hence why I am here. However, I want to edit my resumes to seek a higher paying job, while highlighting the skills I have been learning over the years.

Great comments and tips. However, all too often these videos or blogs do not address the "out-of-the-box" type of jobs, such as estate managers. Or how to handle soft skills which are very important in intercultural communication/intelligence fields. In the skills area I have the following: Intercultural Intelligence, Social Intelligence, Global Mobility, Project Management (this is NOT I T), Design Mindset, HNW Management (High-Net-Worth), 5 foreign languages. Not the typical skill sets. With all the "white space" what does one do when the CV is already 3 pages? This is due to a very diverse professional and academic background. My education requires 3/4 of a page. I'd love to finally see a blog or video on how to tackle a varied and rich career. Keep the great and informative videos and emails coming!

Hi Ronald, JT works with folks like you every day. She says the resume format we teach is ideal for you because it provides a way to "zone in" on your specialty. I agree, your not an IT guy, and when you simplify and showcase properly, that message gets across. ANd, if you are on 3 pages and don't have a lot of whitespace, then something is wrong with the info you are sharing. Most people think they have to be super detailed on a resume, but it's the opposite. When you learn our process for simplifying your text, you'll see how to let the accomplishments do the heavy-lifting.

Great video and awesome information, or suggestions. I followed your presentation with each step and I'm glad I paid to have my resume professionally created. It was affirming to see and hear that I am on the right track. The only thing I have to remind myself of is the importance of networking because networking in conjuction with the resume more often gets me the interview.
