I'm 73 and now have trouble popping up, I never thought this would happen to me! Soooo many old guys have this problem, and one day all of you will be old too, or dead, but if you're just old learn how to do this stuff!

This is probably best videos for Pop-Up!!!! Not so many technicalities or in depth but this technique will cheat you in getting that perfect pop-up!!!!!

Thanks for the video Kyle. That's super helpful and motivating. I'm a woman and for years I told myself I couldn't do push ups well as my weight and strength is mainly in my lower body. Now that I'm learning to surf I obviously can't continue to hold that belief if I want to be successful. I really enjoyed the explosive clap push ups and am looking forward to practicing more. Cheers, Miriam

I love, love, love that you call it more of a "pull through." Everything I'm seeing is more of this concept vs. a "popping up."

Great video. Like you, I’ve been surfing for many years and never realized how I actually pop up so fast. Now i do, and more importantly, your video will continue to keep me in pop up shape as I grow older. I’m already 54 🤣😂👍🏼

Thank you for this great video. I have watched many pop up training videos but yours really gets to the heart of problem I have. I am adding this to my morning routine and looking forward to the next swell when I can put it in to practice on the water. Thanks again.

Helpful! Want specific pop-up exercises and it looks like these 3 combine key elements. Like the way you use the knees, and how, in the 3rd culminating exercise, your hands maintain contact with the ground. Not going to bother going back in the water until I've done a week of these. Cheers for sharing.

Great exercises; great instruction; great explanations. Questions: 1 how many repetitions per exercise? 2 how many sets? 3 how often ( times a week) do recommend or suggest a person do these exercises? Who am I? I am 73 years old. I am 5’7”. I surf 1 to 3 times a week. I surf 6’2” fish to 9’0” longboard. I live in Hanalei, Kauai. I turned my friends onto your videos. I would greatly appreciate a response. Thank you. dennis hanna

Hey mate, sick video! Any suggestions on how to get the strength to do the last exercise? Is that what the first two exercises do? I’m struggling to do that one and feel like it’s cos of a lack of strength and mobility (particularly in the hips and lower back).. any suggestions?

Really helpful videos! I've been trying to fix my pop up which looks on the water like I'm doing a downward dog on the board which is terrible. I've been watching so many, I'm unable to pull the legs through like the last exercice. I've checked the videos, I seem to have the mobility to achieve it (i.e. squats etc) but then I don't know what I'm missing and need to work on to eventually achieve being able to pull my legs under as a one go. Any further tips? I wonder whether being a woman, there are some anatomy elements to this as I know other ladies having the same issue on the pop up. Any tips/specific workout for us ladies? Would love your take on it! 😊
@beachmonkeycom Жыл бұрын
concentrate on the first two exercises. on the last one, just bring the back foot forward and plant it (then switch sides). it helps you get muscle memory for that critical motion.
@yelenik Жыл бұрын
I am a woman and can't do that pull through either. I am 48 and have been surfing for 21 years, and I used to short board! Did I used to be able to do that? I am not even sure. Now I can do it if I use my toes for a bit of extra leverage. There have been injuries and loss of mobility, but, as you say, I am still very flexible according to this guys tests. I am also 5'11" and have very long legs even for my height, almost no torso lol. Does that matter? not sure. Now I only ride long/fun boards so I can use my toes (or body surf in bigger waves) but I am going to keep working on it. You never know. Good luck!

Myth imbalance in the body..People have a dominant side, so that side is more developed yet no imbalance..Tennis players don't switch racket hands in training, very few boxers and mixed martial artists swap their stronger dominant side..Best do weights and such, but train as you surf don't waste energy....
