This is easily the best content on KZbin of this kind. Okay, it would be nice to see some lighting diagrame as it's not easy to understand the depth here, but having watched a second of your videos the one with the beer, I am shocked at how few subs you have for the quality of the content. Not only do we get to see how you take the photos but also how you do the editing. I can't believe this content is free! You're a top bloke-thanks so much for this channel! Subbed!

Another amazing tutorial. You are the best when it comes to product photography and working with speed lights. Why don't you launch your own product photography course? It will help a lot of product photographers like me to achieve something great. Cheers.

Another way to get that skinny edge line of light on glassware (anything shiny, really) is to place a large square soft bank in the rear, behind the subject at lens level... then place a slightly smaller black cardboard, centered on the banklight. Essentially, this creates a rear-square ringlight which creates the edge rim effect. Obviously, use black cards to gobo (block) the light from the lens.

You're right Jerry, that's a great method! Might cover a shoe photography episode doing that at some point. Cheers!

Interesting, I'll need to try this out. I guess I could get away with using a single speedlight if I'm going to composite the exposures anyway.

Hey, Dustin. I really enjoy your channel - you do amazing work! I have a question that you may already have a video for (and if so, please point me to it.) I'm needing to shoot a logo wine glass that's etched with the logo on one side and some text on the opposite side. The obvious issue is 'blocking' the opposing text as it gets in the way of a clean capture of the logo. Have you encountered this before? Thanks for doing what you do!
@dionisk53442 жыл бұрын
Hey, maybe my tips can help, although it might be too obvious. Sometimes using black tape to flag the back of the glass could be the easiest way. But it all depends on how wide is your lettering and logo. You can buy, rent or ask your client for the same glass just without lettering. So you can get nice photos of clear glass and then combine it with highlighted lettering from the other glass in photoshop. Light lettered glass from downside front of the glass, then turn glass 180, so you can highlight the other side with logo. The other way is to clear the glass, using alcohol the, if logo and lettering are printed. Or water a bit lettering if it's engraved, it becomes almost transparent.

I've been trying this with one strip box and a Godox 200, black background, black acrylic base. No matter what I seem to do, I can't get that clean white line around the outside of the glass. Help!
@RHLKN1786 ай бұрын
bounce of the white backdrop is important here, the all black backdrop dims too much light it creates too much contrast. If you want to shoot it on a black backdrop you need to add v flats or white cards to redirect the light from your ad200.

Great Tutorial just wondering if the work flow would change much if you were adding wine into the glass. I imagine it's best to isolate the shot of the glass then composite it later with a bottle of wine rather than shoot them simultaneously.

Great video man!! I'm currently shooting some personalised glassware with lettering. Finding it difficult to get a nice exposure for the glass and the letter at the same time haha 😂 having to shoot the full alphabet is making it tedious 😳🤣
