What is a fair price to sharper...from a cooks knife to a pocket knife and others, etc. Is $20 a knife good or too much...I live in Southern California.

Interested to know what work sharp product you use for your knife sharpening? Do you use ken onion? or mk2?

I like that this guy uses a bunch of systems. It even surprised me when he said wicked edge as works sharp and we butt heads a bunch in the industry. (Im referring to the people that use the systems not the company’s them selfs)

Practice on old knives. That s how I'm getting better. I never thought I could sharpen my drill bits years ago and saw blades. But now it's like : Aaawww whatever! I'll touch it up. In a few minutes I'm done. If your tools are setup to just start and keep going till sharp. Test. And done! Cheers from Australia

I have a BOWIE hunting knife which my nephew gave me and it had about a 5 mm chip in the blade. INOX written on the blade, it's ALCE brand knife. It was basically throw away so I looked on KZbin and came across knife restoration of the blade! ( Japanese tutorial). After watching the vid. I took the knife and a sharpie and marked from the heel side to the toe side where the blade starts to curl. Marked and looked at it trying to visualize how it will end up. After approximately 3 goes of marking and comparison to other bowie hunting knives. I marked the pattern on both sides and ground the blade on a whetstone grinder. Slow and steady while gliding the blade across the stone to keep that hollow grind. Now it looks perfect and I polished the stainless steel blade to a mirror finished look. Now I'm looking at restoration of the handle because it's so pitted it's not funny. A machete you can straighten quite easily by using a ruler or just sight it. Grind with control and don't burn the blade if I can sharpen a beautiful knife? ( now anyway) you can restore the machete just by grinding full length of the blade. Btw being a machete? I wouldn't go hollow grind? Because unless it's an expensive one like my Gerber with a hollow grind and a micro bevel and razor sharp? I have an old Tramontina ( brazil) machete. You can use a round axe stone to hone just to maintain the edge! I watched a tutorial on how to make a machete with just a grinder ( angle grinder) and made my own Bolo style machete out of high carbon steel I had scored from my brother! It's Damn strong , stiff blade. And scary sharp after sharpening on a whetstone using oil stone and slowly but surely! You'll see your confidence icrease massively! Trust me.just look at it like : ok this is throw away! I'll try and fix it but if I stuff It? It was going in the bin anyway! I guarantee you will fix it the way you want! I hope this helps. Cheers from Australia 🙂👍👍👍

But if most everyone started buying Equipment to make money sharpening knives well then it wouldn't be profitable. Lol

I have yet to find a market that is saturated with knife sharpeners. There's plenty of opportunity.

Everyone can. Few will. Fewer of the few will do it well. Even fewer will be consistent. I can't imagine the market *EVER* being saturated!

Sharpening is a general task every man is supposed to know. These days, there aren't many men that have the skills of men from earlier times. They refuse to learn it, rather pay someone. I started doing junk removal almost 2 years ago. My father thought I was a fool for buying a trailer. He just couldn't possibly believe someone would pay to get junk removed, he'd raised us to handle most everything on our own. Once the jobs started coming in, he was surprised, and impressed.
