The second of a two part film: In this episode I make a remote switch panel to enable individual control of the 8 LED panels which form the lighting frame built in episode 1.
If you plan to buy some LED panels yourself, be sure to see the postscript towards the end (7’ 43”)
Contains sawing, milling, soldering, drilling and tapping in the home machine shop.
Created with subtitles (click the CC box) for the hard of hearing, or when you need to keep the volume low.

Part 2: • Workshop LED Panel Lig...

I know I'm late, but wanted to say how much I love how massively over-engineered that switch box is

Nice little project again. Going to start my own "KZbin makes it look easy" list with soldering at the top... and that's all on you after watching this episode! 🤣👍

It is refreshing to find someone who likes machining, electronics and fabricating, is willing to share and understands the importance of good lighting when filming so it is more enjoyable for the viewer to see what is happening in a clearer manner. Well done.

It is so nice to watch you 'needlessly' complicate constructions just because you can, it makes making stuff so much more fun (:

That switch box of yours is SO over engineered for what it needs to do, but man, did it come out nice! I love it! 😀

Just found your channel and loving it. That box was fantastic! I've tried to make project boxes out of aluminum tube a couple times but never came up with a design that looked very good. Thanks for the solution!!

The switch box part was the best. I was hoping for a pass through a polishing wheel to make it pretty. Great work.

Wait, wait, you also need a Master Switch to toggle ALL the lights on/off! I mean really, by the time you turn all eight on or off you'll be exhausted. (I'll let myself out now) Seriously, nice job, the light panel looks great!

...and in order to hold down this one pesky wire, I built an industrial metal foundry and melted down my neighbors Volkswagen. I then proceeded to hand forge the steel wire clamp with a tiny hammer I made from a handful of melted down mitutoyo dial indicators I had lying around the shop. Before encrusting the wire clamp in fine sapphires and rubies I felt it was necessary to electroplate it in gold harvest from a half dozen Faberge eggs.

So the green and yellow wire is earth but the green and yellow wires are switched mains. Milling the insulation instead of the hole. Neither is a good choice for electrical safety. Recouped points for heatshrinking everything.
