A great video that shows the range of material held by NAA, and also, very clearly, explains the challenges of preserving it all. Amazing to see all that video equipment that was so cutting edge not so long ago, now virtually obsolete.

A great relief to know that NAA, which is chronically underfunded and undervalued by the Australian Government has mustered the resources to digitise the remnants of Australia's early audio and video history.

I'm currently studying AV preservation as part of my records and archiving spec. Hopefully World Day can garner some much needed visibility and awareness for the urgency of getting our cultural heritage digitised.
