It is used if a sikh who want to adhere to sikh rules so he or she don't cut any hair on body because it is considered a part of your body a living thing can you should not harm any living thing. in some line of work can be viewed in a negative way or awkward or can trouble you when you are sitting in a formal meeting with others and you have to eat or just to look proper some Sikhs tie a cloth under chin. That way you can respect or follow all the rules and also make other people comfortable
