Just as the video said, this isn't how you would call a duck, but this isn't about "calling" ducks. This is about blowing notes, tones, rhythms, and volume of a duck call. Yes, this WOULD NOT call a duck, but that isn't what is being judged here.

You don't run a full routine when calling ducks. A fast running feed call and a long ringing hail call are rarely used. It's all about seeing who can run the instrument flawlessly at its limits. However, saying contest callers can't call ducks would be like saying people who shoot 1000 yard targets could never hit a deer at 100 yards. I've heard people say Tom Knapp can hit 10 clay targets before they hit the ground, but can't hit a bird in flight. Come on, that's just dumb. How does taking a skill to the highest level make you not qualified at the basics of that skill?
