World Championships 2015 Warm up lessons

Adam - in your opinion what is massialas working on there? I know that that club seems to be big on circular actions that result in finding the blade (almost all actions are from making contact with the blade before starting any other action) Im just curious as to what you think.

Hi Byron, this is of course a warm up lesson before the individual D.E.s so basically firing everything up I guess with familiar routines. Must have worked because Alex picked up a medal that day. However, although Alex is a great fencer and Greg is obviously a great coach, I've never felt inclined to take things from these lessons, all these circles seem an odd thing to be doing to me. We had a coaching course with Ziemek Wojciechowsky during the Summer and he highlighted the bout with Alex Massialas and Lawrence Halsted (unfortunately, I was on the other side of the room so I haven't got a video of this) where Lawrence gets a succession of remises where Alex's parry riposte is not sufficiently tight, very interesting to compare this bout with what's going on in the lesson.
