@@EarlofBaltimore Oh, bother... you're the kind of person I'd give a nearly full glass of water to, and you'd ask why the rest of it wasn't also filled. Can you be any more pessimistic? Freddy's going to finish this project, especially given all the time and money he has into it. He finished the 675LT, so there's no reason he can't finish this one either, especially because he has nearly all of the necessary parts lined up and waiting to be installed. Is there still a lot of work to be done? Of course, but that's what you'd come to expect with a car like this.
@EarlofBaltimore Жыл бұрын
@@CaseyCollier There's a difference between pessimism and realism. Have you followed his channel for long? I'm not going to say he's never finished anything. Let's just consider the ratio of finished to unfinished projects he has undertaken. His shop is full of unfinished projects. He had several projects in the works and then went for quite a period of time producing very little content. Then he's back all the sudden with this flooded P1 he's going to "restore" and have ready for SEMA. That's not what has happened, and all the other projects have apparently been abandoned.

@@EarlofBaltimore I understand what you're saying, to some degree, but I think you're failing to account for the fact that he finished the 675LT, which was the largest and most ambitious project he had undertaken at the time. It's also the most recent project he's done, so it's not like it was all that long ago that he finished a project he started. You might not personally believe that he'll finish this P1, but most of everyone else does because he completed the 675LT and did a fantastic job in the end.

I love Freddie, he does amazing work and is an inspiration to those of us who aspire to "wrench everyday". I just struggle calling this a P1 since he changed out the entire powerplant. The hybrid system is a big component to what made it special and part of the "holy trinity". If you take a V12 out of an Aventador or put a 2JZ engine in a Corvette - are they still the same car? The car is going to be beautiful and stunning, but I don't think it's a $2M hypercar anymore.
@CaseyCollier Жыл бұрын
Let's be honest here. This car was never going to be worth $2 million again, regardless of what he did. It's a salvage title P1 that's been completely submerged in a flood for at least 24 hours. Nothing he could do would really bring the value of the car back. Even if he had bought all OEM parts from McLaren, it still wouldn't have made much of a difference.

@CaseyCollier Жыл бұрын
@@richardtodorov My man... it's still a P1, whether you want to admit it or not. Parts of the body, all of the frame, the whole carbon tub, and nearly all of the components besides the engine are from the P1. The only reason he couldn't get the engine from the P1 rebuilt is because it was ruined in the flood and wasn't going to run (same with the hybrid drive system). At the end of the day, it's a rebuilt P1 that would never have seen the road again without Freddy and his team's work. That's what makes it special, and not just a "12C with a body kit."

@@CaseyCollier it’s Monocell 1, guarantee you have no idea what the actual cell is, a different engine, and a different aftermarket body … yea modified 12C is being kind, but the YT dorks will believe anything.
@CaseyCollier Жыл бұрын
@@richardtodorov "it’s Monocell 1, guarantee you have no idea what the actual cell is" I don't care what type of monocell it is. The fact of the matter is that it was used in the original construction of the P1 and came off of an actual production car, after it had been salvaged. It's the same with the front and rear frames, as well as some of the body parts he has used. Just because you personally don't care about that fact doesn't then mean that this car is now a 12C or 720S. That's ridiculous. You're not the arbiter of what does or doesn't constitute a P1. "a different engine" As I already said, the engine was toast. He wasn't going to get it running again, especially with all the seawater corrosion in it. What would you expect him to do, exactly? Find another P1 engine? Where is he supposed to find that when they simply don't exist on the open market? If you're going to criticize him this much, then I at least expect some kind of solution, instead simply making complaints. "and a different aftermarket body" Again, what was he supposed to do, exactly? Most of the body was unsalvageable because it had been damaged in the flood. Official McLaren parts are too expensive as well, so what's the realistic solution that you'd propose? I'm here to read it. What is it that you'd have him do?
@richardtodorov Жыл бұрын
@@CaseyCollier lmao the question that should be asked is why are you so committed to commenting book chapters on here like your life depended on it 😂🤡 kid get a life and grow a pair, that’s your solution, this guys solution is to keep BSing and doing what it takes to keep ignorant little dorks engaged in a P.5 Wish
