World-leading export countries (1970 - 2020)|#TOP10Channel
Data: UN Comtrade at comtrade.un.org/
In 2020, the global trade value of goods exported throughout the world amounted to approximately 19 trillion U.S. dollars at current prices. In comparison, this figure stood at around 6.45 trillion U.S. dollars in 2000. The rise in the value of goods exported around the world reflects developments in international trade, globalization, and advances in technology.
In 2020, China was the largest source of goods exported around the world, with total merchandise exports valuing approximately 2.5 trillion U.S. dollars. That year, China was responsible for almost 13 percent of all trade goods exported around the world. The United States was the third-largest exporter of goods that year.
#TOP10Channel presents the video of the World's leading export countries (1970 - 2020)|#TOP10Channel as a series of videos on exporting activities of countries, and regions around the world. The data is obtained from the website of UN Comtrade at comtrade.un.org/

Singapore is a trade hub mainly for China and Japan so most of their exports are not real exports from that country. They are statistically double counting Asian exports only because many finished goods spend some time in that country on warehouses before being reexported to other countries.
@huaiwei
@huaiwei Жыл бұрын
Did you just confuse Singapore with Hong Kong, because Singapore is hardly a hub only for those two countries when we are so far from them. Singapore sits on the confluence between East Asia, Australiasia, South Asia, Europe and America, so of course a huge amount of trade from around the world flows through Singapore. And nope, Singapore is not merely a trading post. It is the world's largest oil refinery centre for many years, and builds plenty of very expensive oil rigs and merchant ships, and at one time in the 1970s-80s, was even the world's biggest producer of televisions and computer hard drives at one point. It is also a significant producer of high-value goods like silicon chips, parmecudical products and electronic products. Dyson moved its HQ to Singapore for a reason, and Hyundai has opened an electric car factory here too.
@kaixokaleabilbao2770
@kaixokaleabilbao2770 Жыл бұрын
@@huaiwei I am not trying to diminish Singapore but I know that as a fact. I work in the international trade industry and the same happens in Europe with the Nethwrlands. They have the largest port in Europe (Rotterdam) hence many of the exports they have are actually German finished goods that stay in Rotterdam warehouses and due to tax breaks that the Nethwrlands offer it is beneficial for German companies to do that and when the goods are exprted outside of the European union many of them are counted as Dutch exports instead of German ones. The same happens with Singapore. I had a client un Europe that imported bycilcles from Singapore and when the container was stopped in customs we had to ask for specific technical information of the product to the company. It all came from Japan were the bikes were actually manufactured and Singapore was only a warehouse were the bikes were reexported from Japan to the European Union.
@huaiwei
@huaiwei Жыл бұрын
@@kaixokaleabilbao2770 and how is your anecdotal evidence supposed to show anything?:Fancy someone working in the logistical industry, but coming up with a blanket statement that Singapore is merely a conduit for Chinese and Japanese goods, just because you think Rotterdam does that for German goods? You ever tried importing cargo ships, oil rigs or microchips manufactured in Singapore before? Oh you don't? So I suppose none of those industries exists here in Singapore then, even when I can literally see the giant shipyards, the oil rigs being constructed and the huge wafer fab plants?
