The people who say all the black stain chapters have a lot of text and it's boring have their brain rotted to the point where they cant read about 4 paragraphs in a row, TikTok has ruined our attention span and we can do nothing. I played it again and it isn't even that much text, the whole script can be written in about 4-5 pages including even the optional dialogues of the secret goo's, a very fair amount of text based on the type of game it tried to parody, and everything it says isn't just filler, it has a very depth meaning and philosophy about our actual society, specially on the "Murder on the midnight Steamliner" level. God, even if english isn't my main language, the whole syntax and text structure is pretty easy to understand, and the whole ambience just make it one of the best sections in the game.

As much as the black stain levels were filled with long dialogue, I found it pretty fun and interesting. It's something I didn't expect from World of Goo 2 and I also don't really mind long dialogue bits as much as other people do. And the last level tied everything together pretty good, after a seemingly random and all-over-the-place chapter, making everything make sense.

Man, such a cool detail, that the original developers know about fandom creativity adds so much respect points from me to 2D Boys

Yeah I believe the song's name is 20 Years by Kyle Gabler and it has been used as the title screen music for the WoG 1/2 mod in the first game

@@CubingBonesyes, thank you, I mean exactly that campaign. Imho, 1/2 mod is way better in narrative and story aspect than sequel. Gotta rewatch it some day. Also i didn't know that this song was written by Kyle Gabler

I have a theory about the fourth chapter of World Of Goo 2. And this theory may answer the question of why the creators, no matter how much the fans want it, will not make a sequel and a whole franchise from the World Of Goo game. In the first of the three games, World Of Goo 9: Paper Goolf, we see a game made in a paper style. At the time this game was created, paper ceased to exist in the world. In the second, World Of Goo 11: This Way Up, we see that gravity can now be controlled in every way (in all levels except Stumbler). In the years of this game's creation, people argue about gravity, and some even want to abolish it. And people are also completely moving into virtual reality. In World Of Goo 17: The Black Stain, everything has reached the point where the game has turned into a detective story, because... Come on, this is the 17th part of the game. And here it is already noticeable that the reality of the game and the reality of the world inside World Of Goo 2 (which we play) have merged, because they are connected to each other. What am I getting at? If the creators will continue to make sequels, it will be absolutely pointless. Because the game will then lose its original meaning and appearance. For example, in World Of Goo 9, we see that the balls now need to be launched into a pipe, and not build structures (this is one of the important parts in the World Of Goo games). In World Of Goo 11, you can control gravity as you please (remember that World Of Goo is a computer logic game with imitation of physical events). In World Of Goo 17, the entire focus has now shifted entirely to the plot. Balls can now only be collected in boxes or received during dialogue with characters. There is also some music and Easter eggs referring to the original. But these are only crumbs of what was before. That is, in this way, the creators want to show us that if we continue to make sequels and milk any work of art, this will lead to the disappearance of the original meaning and image, from which only the name will remain (as we see in World Of Goo 17: The Black Stain) and some quiet echoes in the background in the form of small melodies, pictures and notes. And I also have another strange assumption about why in the fourth chapter, after the tense third chapter with a train flying at supersonic speed, such relatively easy levels. This is due to the growth of the audience. Most likely, since many could complain in the future about the complexity of the original, the creators within the world of World Of Goo 2 decided to simplify the game process so that everyone could play them without any problems. Thus, they lost another of the main features of their games - a small challenge for people so that they do not go through the games thoughtlessly, but carefully think through each step in the game. That is, the players, with their influence, completely transformed the franchise from something amazing and incredible into something ordinary, boring, and for kindergarteners.

Tho ngl I would kill to have a full on Paper Goolf as a spin off of sorts. It could be a fun small release of sorts. Either that or the unreleased Tower Defense minigame for this chapter (one existed at one point according to a developer on WoG2, it even had unique balls). I think Goolf has potential for a full title though? they have so many mechanics they could add tbh, like liquid and even more ball types.

nah gravity and golf were fun but the point and click levels were so slow i legit just skiped the 3rd and 4th one plus the story was basic asf except the twist at the end
