The sub-caliber APCR/HVAP ammo has a density 4.5 times that of a steel shot of the same shape -- it is made out of tungsten carbide and has close to the shape of a bare-nosed AP shot like the US 76mm M79 AP shot. Thus, it has 4.5 times the penetration for a projectile about half the diameter of the full-bore steel shot. So at the same impact velocity, the APCR/HVAP should penetrate roughly TWICE the thickness of armor as the full-bore AP shot used with the same gun. THAT is why APCR/HVAP or, even better due to much lower air resistance in flight, APDS was developed!

Keep in mind 60% of these people don' know what HVAP(High velocity armor piercing) or APFSDS (Armor piercing fin stabilized discarding SABOT) is.

HVAP on the 76mm does not have 4.5 times the pen of full bore steel shot nor twice the pen of either APC or AP 76mm rounds. 76mm APC m62 round - 93mm at 500 YARDS (457.2 metres) -88mm at 1000 yards (914.4 m) -82mm at 1500 yards(1371.6m) and 75mm at 2000 yards (1828.8m). 76mm HVAP M93 - 157mm at 500 yards - 135mm at 1000 yards - 116mm at 1500 yards and 64mm at 2000 yards.This was the rare round. Not too many were in theatre at this time. 76mm AP M79 - 109mm at 500 yards - 92mm at 1000 yards - 76mm at 1500 yards and 64mm at 2000 yards. Notice this standard round actually performs better then the capped round and is equal to HVAP at long range. HVAP has high penetration at shorter ranges bot drops off drastically as the range increases. There is a slight increase in APC penetration with the M1A2 but everything else stays the same.Also don't forget these are all under ideal conditions, not battle field conditions.

Just to point out something all of you will find irrelevant, but "interclip reload" would technically be the reload between clips not the shells in the clip. Same as interstate highway is between states or international is between nations. Technically it would be called "intraclip reload" when talking about the time between each shot. Ok now flame me for being annoying lol.

I gave 1:13 a few listens to be sure, and it is definitely *intra*clip reload that QB says. Possibly an accent thing (I am guessing you are in the US from your use of "interstate" as an example).

I don't remember the exact video but he brought up the fact that he didn't know which was correct and settled with "inter" during that video. It sounds like intra because of his british accent. I may be American, but I've been watching this channel for years and know how he talks lol.

Well, my British ears hear "intra", with the "r" quite clearly enunciated before the "a". Us lazy limeys tend to pronounce inter as "inta", so there'd be no r sound at all if QB had it wrong ;-)

The Emil II was the most fun tank I have ever played in this game. I just finished researching the Kranvagn the other day. Not sure I'm too keen on playing tanks anymore with the OP enhanced equipment. I have played Quick Play on and off since July 2011 and I don't have the interest in grinding in ranked. Feels like the end of an era, kinda bummed.

I also suggest taking Armored skill because the gun turns yellow quite often, and if you don't have a repair kit then you won't hit anything in mid to long range.

I love how WG added so much armor on turret. Kran and this tank should have about 170 mm frontal armor on turret, that how much was planned for this tank. But its wg, they add armor to same tank, they wont to another cos historical acc....

You are correct -- Tungsten Carbide is only 1.9 times as dense as steel, with about 2.5 for depleted (for nearly pure U238 isotope of uranium -- I reversed the 5 and 4 in my memory and substituted uranium for tungsten carbide, as in many modern US APFSDS rounds, in error). Since the APDS/APCR/HVAP projectile is only about half as wide as the gun bore and is roughly the shape of a regular AP shot (plus the thin outer casing in the APCR/HVAP), the shell is only one-eighth the volume but 1.9 times the density, so it weighs about one-fourth the weight of the AP projectile for this same gun and gets a huge muzzle velocity boost (with minimal loss in velocity for the APDS with range, though the APCR/HVAP has greatly increased air resistance drag). This high density and high velocity allows greatly increased penetration even for the half-caliber projectile diameter, as well a throwing molten armor into the tank when the projectile punches through the plate back, giving a high incendiary capability. This tank is good, but not extra-ordinary. You can deal ~1,600 in a clip which is nice, but the reload will normally get you killed. In battles where you are the top tier it becomes a hassle, becuase people will watch you and focus to see when you've fired all 4.

QB, regarding how you look at the 10-12 seconds per shell in the Emil II, I think you're assuming that you will be able to have a target lined up immediately after you reload. However, a lot can happen in 40 seconds and you may not be able to get yourself into a situation where you have a good target to fire at immediately after your reload. Therefore, it is highly situational whether to wait a little longer to find a target for your last shell or go ahead and start reloading. The decision whether to reload or not at a specific point is often highly complex and sometimes with great risks and or rewards. One of my favorite things to do is what I call the Jedi mind trick: My clip potential is not enough to kill the enemy tank in front me, instead of shooting off the entire clip, I may only fire off one or two shells and start my clip, but still trying to make it look like I'm trying to shoot them. The enemy is no doubt counting my shells and trying to get me to bounce a couple of shells before coming to farm some free damage off of me, little do they know that I've already been reloading for the past 10 seconds and by the time they realize it, I've usually got myself reloaded and kill them with my fresh clip.

In the upcoming year there should be leopard2a7, m1a1 abrams and the t14 armate included in the game. If youre up to 400 mm angled armor now, why not just go the extra step and fire depeleted uranium rounds for 75 gold per round.

Make sure never to autoaim at Emil IIs, even from the side. The hull is so short and the turret so tall that you'll end up shooting at the turret if you auto-lock on.

the Emil II is amazing for it's tier. However, the Kranvagn is so much more comfortable to play. I use the Emil II when I want to dominate everyone and the Kranvagn when I want casual fun.

lol first time i disagree with qb, the emil II is so much better tier for tier than the kranvagn at least in my opinion. Emil II is 1 whole tier below the kranvagn and realy is not loosing much of its statistics. Alpha, pen turret arma is all the same, and the fact that you have 3,0 sec shell intro clip reload on tier 10 is not much better then the 0,33 more on tier 9. In my opinion the emil II is one of the best tanks on tier 9. Anyway good content as always.

Im finishing my grind of the emil 1 right now, and against 7s and lower it is OP, against 9s and 10s you can really feel its not so hot pen. Esp with the special ammo, plus with the gold spamming so prevalent in the game it gets penned by everything tier 8 and up, and the better 6s and 7s. And with the broken tier 8 MM in WG now its been a pretty tough. I am so excited to get the emil 2, because only OP pen gold will reliably pen the front of the turret, AP generally wont as long as im playing smartly I wont get penned at all. So sweet!

The more reviews I see on the Emil tanks, I stand by my opinion from the nerf during the tests. They have been nerfed too hard and are only really good as ridge line warriors using gun depression and turret armor. Mobility is bad, traverse is bad, reload and gun handling are significantly worse than comparable competitors, Penetration is worse, and even the view range is worse. I di believe that some influential lovers of French autoloaders cried and cried and cried during the initial testing because their beloved tanks had some competition and WG backed of... (OK, maybe a bit overdramatic, but I still stand by the core of my words). Buff one area - mobility or gun - and you have the possibility to be effective in more situations.

I personally dislike this tank same, with Tier 10. What I hate about this tank is accuracy, while on paper it doesn't seem that bad in battle it behaves like it has French gun, if you know what I mean. If not it means it's absolutely unpredictable and sometimes it trolls you more than BL-10 on ISU-152.

the T54E1 i so underpowered compared to any of the other tanks. 210mm pen is really really bad, the lorr40 tier 8 premium has 232mm... fucking ridiculous.

I have the Emil II and I also find it a little...meh I prefer a lot more other tier 9s... having 9 tier 9s right now.. but yeah the tank can bounce even Jg. Pz. E 100 shots ahah but yeah a bit sluggish, gun pen could be a lot better, and it feels as if its a little underwhelming compared to other Tier 9s... but I think I need more games on it to actually enjoy it ;)
