World of Warcraft turns eight on November 23, and we'd like to thank our amazing community for joining us in celebrating eight epic years of adventure. To celebrate, players who log in to World of Warcraft between November 18 and December 1 will receive a unique Feat of Strength achievement and Celebration Package item. Using your item will kick off the celebrations by shooting off fireworks*, applying a (cosmetic only) tabard to your character, and granting an 8% bonus to experience and reputation gains from any enemies defeated while active.

Me & My husband played Vanilla, thats where & when We met, back in 2006, He lived in Florida & I lived in Indiana.. He joined a raiding guild I was in, the level cap was 60 then lol..were married now & still together, & very happy.. so WoW will always hold a special place in both Our hearts always, cause thats where we met..last time We played was when MoP came out, about a year & a half ago..played in for like 6-7 months then got tired of it.. I will probably reactivate Our accounts when the new expantion..Warlords of Draenor comes out & check it out.. if We get burnt or dont like it, We wont play it..But We will never forget WoW or all the friends We met on there, & are now real life friends :-) .. I hope WoD will be good..

The peak of raiding was Ulduar. Heroic modes were made 'the right way' there. You had different gear from normal and heroic. You had an interesting way of activating heroic mode.

Ultimately, I still admire Blizzard and think them to be possibly the best development studio there is. I very much like all three of their series, considering their titles to be up there at the top, in all aspects. Apart from the main focus of Mists, nothing more from any of the expansions is to my distaste, not significantly. The one thing I've always disliked about World of Warcraft is its MMORPG format and how tedious it soon becomes. Many folk have this gripe, it's the most common one toward WoW. But thing is, I played WoW during TBC for between a year to two and enjoyed much of it. I did not dismiss the game out of hand and, indeed, when it was first announced back in the day, I had nothing but anticipation for it, even knowing I wouldn't be able to play it for the foreseeable future. This was what first caused me to lament their taking the series in this direction, yet I only yearned for the day I'd finally get to play it! However, after that day had come, I soon learned this format delivers an inevitably tiresome experience. And then it's the community that keeps you hooked, the companions you've met and friends you've made, as well as the vain sense of achievement, the growth of your characters! That's what kept me logging in for the vast majority of my time spent on it. And it's only all-too familiar. I have come back to it since, in each expansion. Each time, my spark of interest has quickly faded. I just cannot get into it any longer, the gameplay has burned me out. Thus, my main and only constant gripe toward each expansion is in their continuation of the MMORPG state of the series, locking out a possible return to a more genuinely satisfying genre. And yet, each time one is released... I feel like I'm missing out. I fear that will be especially true in regards to Warlords of Draenor! Sigh... _my old bones ache._

Gage how much the lore interests you. At this point, you're not going to get them for the gameplay, outstanding as it was in their days. Unless you have a particular fondness for old school gameplay and would play them multiplayer -- there's still folks that do. Having said that, the SFX and music still hold up, although this is because I played them in their day. But also again, since. A new player would react differently, though you can expect them to be very good, for old school SFX and music.
